The tools you will actually use running a Teeworlds server: console variables, votes, maps and remote administration.
Every server variable, from sv_name and sv_motd to sv_gametype, sv_scorelimit, sv_timelimit and sv_maprotation, lives in one file. Edit it in the file manager and restart to apply new rules.
sv_rcon_password grants full access, while sv_rcon_mod_password gives moderators a limited set. Failed guesses are punished automatically through sv_rcon_max_tries and sv_rcon_bantime.
Upload .map files made in the built-in editor to the maps folder. Players missing a map fetch it from the server while connecting, and sv_map_download_speed sets how quickly.
Whether a hook catches in Teeworlds depends on the server processing every tick on time. The Ryzen 9 9950X and our İstanbul location give players in Türkiye a consistent feel.
Public Teeworlds servers listed on the master server can become targets. Free DDoS protection and unlimited traffic come with every plan.
Automatic backups cover autoexec.cfg, your custom map archive and recorded demos. Snapshot manually before rebuilding the rotation and you can return to the old setup in one step.
TheCrewHost Teeworlds server hosting starts at ₺240.00 per month ($6.00) and runs the game's official teeworlds_srv server. It lives in our İstanbul datacenter on a Ryzen 9 9950X with NVMe storage, and in a game where hook swings and rocket jumps depend on split-second timing, players in Türkiye feel the low latency right away. In autoexec.cfg you pick dm, tdm, ctf, lms or lts with sv_gametype, build a map cycle with sv_maprotation and give players ready-made votes through add_vote lines. Upload .map files drawn in the editor to the maps folder, and the server sends them to anyone who does not have them while they connect.
A Teeworlds server runs one of five official modes, chosen with sv_gametype: dm (free-for-all), tdm (team deathmatch), ctf (capture the flag), lms (Last Man Standing) and lts (Last Team Standing). The last two arrived with version 0.7: once you run out of health you spectate until the round ends, and the last player or team still standing takes it.
Teeworlds is a free, open-source 2D shooter. What makes it unique is the hook: you latch onto walls, ceilings and opponents to swing around, and you launch yourself with rocket and grenade blasts. That is why competitive CTF servers have gathered around classic maps like ctf5 for a very long time, while casual servers keep endless chaos going on dm1.
This page covers the original Teeworlds. DDraceNetwork (DDNet), the community's biggest offshoot, is a separate game with its own server software built around race and cooperation maps, and it has its own page in our list. If you want classic gunfights you are in the right place; if you plan to host DDRace maps, check the DDNet page instead.
Barely any. Even a full Teeworlds server uses a tiny fraction of the 4 GB on our Bronze plan, because a Teeworlds world is a small tile map with at most 16 active players. So Bronze is the right plan for every Teeworlds server, and it is worth saying plainly: bigger plans will not make the game faster.
Two variables set the player limit together. sv_player_slots is how many people can play at once, up to 16; sv_max_clients is the total number of connections including spectators, which can go up to 64 in 0.7. Eight player slots and sixteen total connections, for instance, leaves room for an audience during a busy tournament. sv_max_clients_per_ip allows four connections from one IP by default; groups joining from a gaming cafe or a dorm may need that raised.
The only resource worth watching is automatic demo recording through sv_auto_demo_record. Every match writes a demo file to disk, and capping how many are kept with sv_auto_demo_max means the disk never fills up.
Teeworlds is administered through the remote console, or rcon. Set a full-access password with sv_rcon_password in autoexec.cfg, open the remote console in-game with F2, log in, and you can change maps, kick players and adjust settings on the fly. For people you trust but do not want touching everything, set a separate moderator password with sv_rcon_mod_password. sv_rcon_max_tries and sv_rcon_bantime ban anyone trying to guess passwords for a set time.
Fill the vote menu so players can make decisions without you. An add_vote line takes a description and a command; you might define a vote labeled Switch to ctf5 that changes the map, or one that adjusts the score limit. sv_vote_kick turns kick votes on or off, sv_vote_kick_min sets the minimum player count needed to start one, and sv_vote_kick_bantime decides how long a vote-kicked player stays out.
For tournaments, sv_tournament_mode brings joining players in as spectators, and sv_player_ready_mode lets a match start once everyone is ready. sv_warmup sets a warm-up period before the match begins.
The Teeworlds client ships with a built-in map editor, and custom maps are often what give a community server its identity. Upload your .map file to the server's maps folder via SFTP or the file manager, set the opening map with sv_map and the cycle with sv_maprotation. Maps in the rotation are separated by spaces; sv_matches_per_map sets how many matches are played on each, and sv_match_swap decides whether teams switch sides between matches.
A player without the map downloads it from the server while connecting. Maps are usually small, so this takes seconds, and sv_map_download_speed sets how many data packets the server sends per request.
Be careful when renaming maps: a map with the same name but different contents can confuse players who downloaded the earlier version. Adding a version suffix to the file name whenever you update a map is the cleanest approach. Playing a few rounds on a new map by itself before adding it to the rotation also catches layout bugs early.
With sv_register enabled, your server registers with the master server and players find it by name on the Internet tab of the in-game browser. For a private server you would rather keep off the list, set sv_register to 0 and share the address only with friends; they connect directly by typing IP:port into the browser's address field. The Teeworlds default port is 8303, but always share the port assigned in your panel.
Watch version compatibility: Teeworlds 0.6 and 0.7 use different network protocols and cannot connect to each other. The first lines of the console show which version your server runs, so make sure your players use a client from the same generation. It is the first thing to check when someone cannot get in.
For a password-protected match, set the password variable in autoexec.cfg and share it only with those who should join. The message you set with sv_motd pops up for everyone who connects; putting your rules, your Discord link and a note on how the vote menu works there helps newcomers settle in quickly.
Even a full server with 16 active players uses a small slice of the entry plan. Bigger plans speed up nothing in this game.
Once payment clears, teeworlds_srv installs automatically. Open the console at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net and watch it register with the master server.
Fill in sv_name, sv_gametype, sv_player_slots, sv_max_clients, sv_scorelimit and sv_maprotation. Save and restart, and the server comes up with the new rules.
Give yourself full access with sv_rcon_password and moderators limited access with sv_rcon_mod_password. In-game, press F2 to open the remote console and log in.
Drop custom .map files into the maps folder and add map and mode votes with add_vote lines, so players can decide even when you are away.
Players find your server by name on the Internet tab, or connect directly by typing the IP:port from your panel into the browser's address field.
What Teeworlds server owners ask most: modes, maps, rcon, version compatibility and choosing a plan.
Our İstanbul datacenter runs on Ryzen 9 hardware, delivering low latency to players in Türkiye and good connectivity to Europe, the Middle East and the Caucasus.
