Hardware picked for Archean's physics-heavy server, plus access to every file the developer wiki tells you to edit.
Change server_public_name, max_simultaneous_players, password, world and spawn from the panel file manager. server_online decides whether your server appears in the public list.
Upload mod folders over SFTP, point external_mods_dir in server.ini at them, then list one mod name per line in the world's mods.txt. The server scans that folder on startup.
updates_per_second defaults to 25 ticks and physics_steps_per_update to 8 physics steps per tick. If screens eat CPU, lower screens_compression_level to trade processor load for bandwidth.
Players whose Steam64 ID is in admins.txt can use /save, /kick, /ban, /give and /timeadd. The F4 admin panel lists connected players and every entity in the world.
The Archean wiki puts high per-core CPU power first for servers. The Ryzen 9 9950X helps you hold the 25-tick target while orbital mechanics and aerodynamics are being simulated.
Worlds live under Archean-data/server/worlds, and automatic backups protect months of bases and vehicles. Free DDoS protection keeps attack traffic away from the server itself.
Archean server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at ₺240.00 ($6.00) a month, and for a proper dedicated server we recommend Gold 8GB or higher, matching the developers' guidance of at least 8 GB RAM. Your server runs on the strong per-core performance of the Ryzen 9 9950X with DDR5 memory and NVMe SSD. With full access to server.ini, the world's mods.txt and admins.txt, you control the player cap, tick rate and Workshop mods yourself. The İstanbul location gives builders in Türkiye a short route in, and DDoS protection plus automatic backups come with every plan.
An Archean dedicated server is a separate server program that keeps this engineering sandbox and space sim, built by the two-person team of batcholi and FloDKSM, running while your own PC is off. The game has been in Early Access on Steam since May 2024. It simulates a full-scale Earth and Moon, orbital mechanics, aerodynamics, fluids and electricity; you build vehicles piece by piece in first person and program their behavior in the XenonCode language or a visual node editor.
The server is its own app that SteamCMD can download anonymously (Steam app ID 3557220), and it runs as a console program called Archean_server on both Linux and Windows. The game's Steam page puts it simply: each server sets its own rules, star systems and mods.
Two game modes are available today. Creative puts every part in your inventory, while Adventure makes you gather resources and craft, with a 45-slot inventory. Survival is not in the game yet and is planned for a future update.
The Archean wiki recommends at least 8 GB of RAM and high per-core CPU power for a server, so our Gold 8GB plan is the starting point for a real community world. Bronze 4GB and Silver 6GB sit below that guidance, and we do not recommend them for Archean.
Archean's load comes from the physics in the world more than from the player count. By default the server runs 25 updates per second and computes 8 physics steps in each one. Every plane in flight, every rocket in orbit and every running pump is part of that math, so one player's enormous station can cost more than five players' small rovers.
Bases packed with XenonCode computers and dashboard screens bring screens_compression_level into play. It takes a value from 0 to 9, and lower values ease the CPU at the cost of more bandwidth; with unlimited traffic, lower settings can make sense on screen-heavy servers. Platinum 10GB and Diamond 12GB give busy worlds room to grow, while Emerald and Xtreme exceed what most Archean servers need.
Every Archean server setting lives in server.ini, so start there. If server_public_name is empty, the server asks a few setup questions in the console when it starts; once the value is filled in, the prompts stop. server_online = yes adds the server to the public list, while accept_remote_connections = yes allows outside connections at all. Fill in the password line if you want a private crew server.
max_simultaneous_players allows 16 players by default. The world line picks which save loads, and spawn sets the celestial body players start on, earth by default. listen_port defaults to 8881 and must be open for both UDP and TCP; on our hosting, the port assigned to your server is shown in the panel.
auto_save_interval_seconds saves every 30 seconds by default, and automatic_blacklist can blacklist problem connections for you. Stop the server and back up the file before you change anything.
Mods on an Archean server take three steps: put the mod files on the server, point server.ini at them and enable them for a world. The developers' method is to download Workshop mods with SteamCMD using Archean's app ID 2941660 and the mod's Workshop ID. On our hosting, the practical route is to upload the mod folders over SFTP into a directory on your server.
Next, set external_mods_dir in server.ini to that directory. The server treats every folder in it that contains a repository file as a mod. The last step is the world's mods.txt at Archean-data/server/worlds/<world_name>/mods.txt, with one mod name per line. That name is not the folder name; it is the one defined in the mod's repository file, usually in VENDOR_modname format and often shown on the Workshop page.
If a mod listed in mods.txt cannot be found, the server asks whether to continue without it. Since the game is in Early Access, checking your mods after each major update is a good habit.
To make someone an Archean admin, add their player ID to Archean-data/server/admins.txt, one per line; for Steam players that is their Steam64 ID. Admins open the management panel in game with F4. It shows server load and ticks per second. The Players tab lets you teleport to people or kick them, and the Entities tab lists everything in the world with its owner and alias, so you can teleport to it or delete it. That tab is the fastest way to clear out giant abandoned builds.
Chat commands come in two groups. Everyone can use /help, /list and /info, which shows the server name, CPU load and tick rate. Admins get /save for an instant save, /kick and /ban to remove players, /give to hand out items, /setspawn to set someone's spawn point and /timeadd to move the in-game clock forward or back.
In an Adventure world, the Admin Privileges checkbox also lets you spawn blueprints without materials, which speeds up building event arenas.
Players join from the server list in the Archean launcher or by typing your IP address and port in manually. With server_online = yes your server appears by name in the public list; if you would rather stay unlisted, accept_remote_connections = yes is enough and friends connect with IP:port. Share the password too if you set one.
It is worth reminding people about client hardware. The Archean client relies on ray tracing: the wiki recommends NVIDIA RTX cards, AMD RX 6000 series and newer can run it, and Intel ARC cards are not supported. Mentioning this before inviting your community saves players from blaming the server when their own GPU is the problem.
With the server in İstanbul, players in Türkiye connect over a short path, and those joining from Europe, the Middle East and the Caucasus generally get a good connection too. If /info keeps showing a tick rate close to 25, your server is comfortable.
In line with the wiki's 8 GB guidance, start small crews on Gold 8GB, and pick Platinum or Diamond for big stations and busy worlds.
Your Archean server installs automatically after payment. The console, file manager, backups and start and stop controls are waiting at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net.
Stop the server and set server_public_name, server_online, accept_remote_connections, password and max_simultaneous_players, so it no longer asks setup questions on start.
Write your Steam64 ID into Archean-data/server/admins.txt. Next time you join, the F4 panel and admin commands such as /save, /kick and /ban are available.
Upload mod folders over SFTP, set external_mods_dir to that directory and add the VENDOR_modname names to the world's mods.txt file.
Share the server name or your IP:port. During the first session, check the tick rate with /info and take a panel backup of the working setup.
