Hosting that accounts for Hytale's Java server, its view-distance-driven memory use and the pace of Early Access updates.
Each Hytale world runs on its own main thread and hands parallel work to a shared pool. The Ryzen 9 9950X's strong single-core speed keeps ticks steady with crowds of NPCs and players.
The official manual names view distance as the main driver of RAM use. Capping it at 12 chunks, or 384 blocks, is Hytale's own recommendation for both performance and gameplay.
Java plugins and content packs go into the mods folder as .jar or .zip files. Players joining your server do not have to install those mods themselves.
Server name, MOTD, password and player cap live in config.json, permissions in permissions.json, allowed players in whitelist.json and banned players in bans.json.
The server's built-in backup flags save your world on a schedule, and panel backups cover the universe folder too, so you always have a restore point before an Early Access patch.
Hytale player connections use QUIC over UDP. Free DDoS protection filters that traffic to help keep public servers from being knocked offline.
Hytale server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at ₺240.00 ($6.00) per month, and the entry plan's 4 GB of DDR5 RAM meets the 4 GB minimum Hypixel Studios lists for its official server software. Hytale launched in Early Access on January 13, 2026, and its server, HytaleServer.jar, runs on Java 25 alongside Assets.zip. Your server stays online around the clock in İstanbul, with config.json, permissions.json, whitelist.json and bans.json available through the file manager or SFTP. Drop mods into the mods folder, and players can still join without downloading them separately, because Hytale is designed to keep content on the server side.
A Hytale server runs the official dedicated server software that Hypixel Studios released with Early Access. Hytale entered Early Access on January 13, 2026 and has received regular updates since. Multiplayer is supported in Exploration Mode, where you explore a procedurally generated world, build a base, farm and craft, and in Creative Mode, where the building tools are unlocked. Story-driven content and official minigames are on Hypixel Studios' announced roadmap, so check the latest patch notes to see what has shipped.
So most Hytale servers today are shared survival worlds for friend groups, building servers and experimental modded servers. Because the server is written in Java, Java plugins are a powerful way to change it, and the modding team has stated plainly that players should be able to join any modded server without downloading external mods.
As you would expect from Early Access, the file layout, settings and features can shift with updates. We base the details on this page on the official Hytale Server Manual, and we recommend taking a backup before any major change.
Officially, a Hytale server needs at least 4 GB of memory and Java 25, which makes Bronze 4GB the floor for a small group. Two things drive the real requirement: the amount of loaded world for RAM, and the number of players and NPCs for CPU.
When players stay together, they share the loaded area. When everyone heads off in a different direction, each of them pulls their own surroundings into memory and usage climbs fast. Hytale's default view distance is 384 blocks, which the manual compares to roughly 24 Minecraft chunks. Capping maximum view distance at 12 chunks relieves memory significantly.
As a practical starting point, we suggest Silver 6GB for groups of 4–8, Gold 8GB for communities of 10–15, and Emerald 16GB for busy modded servers. Keep the manual's warning in mind: a typical symptom of memory pressure is rising CPU usage as the garbage collector works harder. If you see that pattern in the console and the panel graphs, it is time to move up a plan.
Hytale mods are .jar or .zip files placed in the server's mods folder, and the official manual points to CurseForge as one source. Java plugins extend the server programmatically, while content packs add new blocks, items and models. If a mod fails at startup, the console says so clearly.
The admin files sit in the server folder: config.json holds the server name, MOTD, password, player cap and maximum view radius; permissions.json holds permissions; whitelist.json lists allowed players; bans.json lists banned ones. Worlds live under universe/worlds, and each world has its own config.json with settings such as the seed, PvP, fall damage and NPC spawning.
One warning from the manual matters a lot: these files are read at startup and rewritten by the server when in-game commands change them. Edits you make while the server is running are likely to be overwritten. Stop the server in the panel, edit and save, then start it again.
The Hytale client and server compare protocol versions when connecting and reject mismatches. That means when a new game update ships, your server needs updating promptly, or players on the new client will not be able to join.
The server has a built-in updater with commands such as /update check, /update download and /update apply --confirm. The Update section of config.json lets you choose whether staged updates are never applied automatically, applied when the server is empty, or applied on a schedule. If you want to try the pre-release patchline, do it with a separate backup in hand.
For backups, the server's --backup, --backup-frequency and --backup-max-count flags copy your world at regular intervals. On top of that, the panel's automatic backups cover the whole server, including the universe folder. The manual openly mentions the risk of data loss in Early Access, so taking a manual panel backup before each major update is a good habit.
Players join a Hytale server from the multiplayer menu by entering its IP address and port. Hytale uses the QUIC protocol over UDP, with 5520 as the default port; if the panel assigned your server a different port, players need to add it to the address. The manual notes SRV records are not supported yet, so the port is required even when you connect with a domain name.
On first launch the server must be authenticated with /auth login device. The console shows a code, and once you approve it with your Hytale account at accounts.hytale.com/device, the server starts accepting players.
To reach a wider audience, you can apply for Hytale's official in-game server list. Listing requires creating a server profile in the Account Manager, proving you own your domain with a TXT record, and passing a moderation review. If you do not have a domain yet, you can register one on TheCrewHost's domain page. The İstanbul location keeps latency low for players in Türkiye.
The official minimum is 4 GB. Small groups can start on Bronze or Silver, while modded servers or communities of 10–15 are more comfortable on Gold and above.
Your server is set up automatically after payment. From gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net you reach the console and the file manager and can start or stop the Java process.
Type /auth login device in the console and approve the code at accounts.hytale.com/device with your Hytale account. An unauthenticated server will not accept players.
Stop the server, then set the name, MOTD, password, player cap and view radius in config.json. For a private server, add allowed players to whitelist.json.
Put the .jar and .zip mods you want into the mods folder over SFTP, start the server and check the console for any loading errors.
Players connect by entering IP:port in the multiplayer menu. If you are building a public community, consider applying for the official server list as well.
