Hardware and tools picked to keep a 1.2.5 modpack smooth despite its age.
The Ryzen 9 9950X's high clock speed keeps 1.2.5's single-threaded world loop responsive, even with quarries, frames and condensers running everywhere.
Drop period-correct plugins like Essentials 2.9.2 or TekkitRestrict into the plugins folder to set up homes, warps and item bans in minutes.
SFTP and the web file manager give you direct access to EE2, RedPower 2 and BuildCraft configs, so you control block IDs and gameplay rules yourself.
Roll the world back after a reactor meltdown or a frame experiment gone wrong; the Samsung 990 EVO Plus NVMe drive writes saves quickly.
Public Tekkit Classic servers with busy EMC economies attract attacks; every plan is shielded at no extra cost so your players stay connected.

TheCrewHost's Tekkit Classic server hosting starts at $8.63 per month and gives you your own Minecraft 1.2.5 Tekkit Classic world on a Ryzen 9 9950X with DDR5 memory and NVMe storage. Build an EMC economy with Equivalent Exchange 2, automate mining with RedPower 2 frame machines, or keep IndustrialCraft 2 reactors from melting down with your friends. The server sits in İstanbul, so players across Türkiye connect with low latency. Because the Tekkit Classic server ships with Bukkit support, you can also run 1.2.5-era plugins such as Essentials, and you get full SFTP access to every config file.
Tekkit Classic is the current name of the original Tekkit pack on the Technic Platform, and it runs on Minecraft 1.2.5 with 3.1.2 as the recommended build. The pack holds roughly thirty mods, but they defined an era: Equivalent Exchange 2 with the Philosopher's Stone, Energy Collectors and Energy Condensers driving an EMC economy; RedPower 2 with frame motors, pneumatic tubes and logic gates; IndustrialCraft 2 with nuclear reactors, Advanced Machines and Compact Solars. BuildCraft quarries, ComputerCraft computers, Railcraft tracks and the Modular Force Field System round it out.
People who spin up Tekkit Classic today usually fall into two camps. One is the group of friends who remember their 2012 world and want to walk the same path again. The other runs public economy servers where EMC is the currency, with shops and shared factories. The content list looks small next to modern packs, yet the gameplay loop is so clear that players build their bases quickly and the server itself stays simple to manage.
For Tekkit Classic, single-core speed matters far more than memory. The launch.sh script in the official server archive starts Java with -Xms2G and -Xmx3G, so the pack itself is happy with a few gigabytes, and our Silver 6GB plan gives a small or mid-sized group plenty of headroom. The real bottleneck is that a 1.2.5 server processes each world tick on a single main thread. Running BuildCraft quarries, RedPower frame miners, busy Energy Condensers and chunks held open by Dimensional Anchors all compete for that one core.
That is why the high clock speed of the Ryzen 9 9950X shows up directly in Tekkit Classic: shorter ticks mean machines and player movement stay smooth. As your player count grows, extra RAM lets you keep more chunks and plugin data in memory, while the additional vCores on the Emerald and Xtreme plans take care of side work like networking and garbage collection. Disk space is not a concern either: the server archive is about 15 MB, and the only thing that grows over time is your world folder.
Yes. The Tekkit Classic server ships with a Bukkit-compatible core, so CraftBukkit plugins from the 1.2.5 era work once you place them in the plugins folder of the server directory. Current plugin releases will not load on that old API. Among the versions the community has long used with Tekkit Classic, Essentials 2.9.2 (homes, warps, /back) and TekkitRestrict (block and item limits) are the usual starting points.
If you are opening a public server, item bans should be your first job. EE2's Destruction Catalyst and Catalytic Lens can erase a chunk of terrain in one click, and IndustrialCraft 2's Nuke and Mining Laser are favorite griefing tools. Disabling them outright or restricting them to staff protects spawn and player bases. Make a habit of taking a backup from the panel before adding or removing any plugin: some 1.2.5 plugins interact with mod blocks in unexpected ways, and a clean restore point saves hours of cleanup.
You download the official Tekkit Classic server archive from the pack's page on the Technic Platform. Inside you will find Tekkit.jar, the launch.sh and launch.bat scripts, the mods and config folders, mod_EE.props for Equivalent Exchange 2 settings, a redpower folder for RedPower 2, and BuildCraft's config. server.properties is generated on first launch, and because 1.2.5 predates the eula.txt requirement, the server boots without asking you to accept one.
The Java version is the detail that trips people up. Tekkit Classic 3.1.2 runs cleanly on Java 8 and throws startup errors on Java 10 and newer, so make sure the server launches with Java 8 and ask our support team if you are unsure. The pack also uses old Forge's numeric block ID system, which means adding extra mods later causes ID conflicts unless you reserve a free ID range for each one in its config. Copy redpower.cfg or mod_EE.props before editing them, because a single wrong ID can stop the world from loading at all.
Players install the Technic Launcher, sign in with their Minecraft Java Edition account, search for Tekkit Classic and install it. The part that matters is matching versions: in the launcher's version menu they need to pick the same build you uploaded to the server, which in most cases is 3.1.2. Anyone who tries to connect with a different build gets rejected because the mod lists no longer match.
Once the pack launches, they open Multiplayer, click Add Server and enter the IP:port shown in your panel. To keep the server friends-only, set white-list=true in server.properties and add players from the console with the whitelist add command. Bedrock, console and mobile editions cannot join Tekkit Classic at all; the pack only runs through Java Edition and the Technic Launcher. With the server in İstanbul, players in Türkiye get low latency, and those connecting from Europe, the Middle East and the Caucasus generally see solid connections too.
Silver 6GB suits a small group, while Gold 8GB or higher fits a busy EMC economy; after payment your server is set up automatically and your panel login arrives.
Grab the server file from the Tekkit Classic page on the Technic Platform and extract the roughly 15 MB archive into a folder on your computer.
Using the SFTP details in your panel, copy Tekkit.jar, the mods, config, redpower and buildcraft folders, and mod_EE.props into the server's root directory.
Start the server from Tekkit.jar with Java 8 and watch the console; the world and server.properties appear on first launch, and then you can tune the settings.
Add 1.2.5-compatible Bukkit plugins, op yourself, decide which EE2 and IC2 items to ban, and choose whether the server runs on a whitelist.
Share the IP:port; players select the same Tekkit Classic build in the Technic Launcher and connect through the Multiplayer menu.
