Why TheCrewHost for FTB Server?

Infrastructure built to handle the automation load of FTB packs and the tools that come with them.

Pick the pack and version

Tell us which FTB pack and which version you want and the server is set up to match. Using the same version your players run in the FTB App avoids connection errors from the start.

You set FTB Chunks limits

Control how many chunks each player can claim and force-load in the FTB Chunks settings. A sensible force-load cap keeps machines that run while nobody is online from dragging the server down.

Tidy permissions with FTB Ranks

Define ranks and unlock specific commands for moderators without a separate permissions mod. Combined with a whitelist and claim protection, you get a well-ordered community server.

A CPU built for automation

Direwolf20-style packs run hundreds of machines every tick. The strong single-core performance of the Ryzen 9 9950X keeps the main loop fast, and Emerald and Xtreme add extra vCores.

NVMe for heavy digging

Packs like StoneBlock, where you tunnel constantly, write chunks to disk nonstop. Samsung 990 EVO Plus NVMe drives absorb that write load, and automatic backups cover the world if something goes wrong.

Help with versions and Java

When a version or Java mismatch stops an FTB pack, reach our Turkish-speaking team 24/7 by ticket, Discord, WhatsApp, phone or live chat.

Our FTB server hosting begins with the Gold 8GB plan, which pairs 8 GB of DDR5 RAM with Ryzen 9 9950X cores and NVMe storage for ₺440.00 ($11.00) per month. Feed The Beast packs such as the Direwolf20 series, StoneBlock, OceanBlock and Skies are played through the FTB App and all ship server-ready, and your server is installed with the pack and version you pick. Our datacenter is in İstanbul, which gives groups in Türkiye a smooth connection. FTB-specific tools like FTB Chunks land claims, shared FTB Quests progress and FTB Ranks permissions are all easy to manage through the web console, file manager and SFTP.

Which packs can you run on an FTB server?

Feed The Beast is one of the longest-running modpack teams in modded Minecraft, and it distributes its packs through its own launcher, the FTB App. The FTB server type is built for these packs, and FTB publishes every one of its modpacks as server-ready.

The catalog falls roughly into three groups. First are kitchen-sink packs like FTB Presents Direwolf20, made for Direwolf20's YouTube series and packed with a broad mix of tech and magic mods. Second are the block packs such as StoneBlock, OceanBlock and Skies, where you start in a restricted world and automate every resource from scratch. Third are the classics people still play, like Infinity Evolved on 1.7.10 or Revelation and Interactions on 1.12.2.

At install time you choose the pack and the version. Without a specific version, the installer usually picks the latest stable release. If you know which version your players run in the FTB App, pinning to it is safer, especially for newer packs that receive frequent updates.

How much RAM should you pick for your FTB pack?

This server type starts at Gold 8GB, which is enough to play block packs like StoneBlock or Skies with two to six people. These packs feel light early on, but automation piles up as you progress, and memory needs rise noticeably in the late game.

For large kitchen-sink packs like the Direwolf20 series, Platinum 10GB is a more comfortable starting point even for a small group. Diamond 12GB suits six to twelve players, and Emerald 16GB makes sense for active communities of twelve to twenty. Beyond twenty players on a public server with wide exploration, the twelve vCores on Xtreme 32GB really start to matter.

Older packs are a separate case. Infinity Evolved on 1.7.10 and the 1.12.2 packs use less memory per mod, and Gold 8GB covers most groups. Either way, the true bottleneck is often single-core performance, so measuring why TPS drops is a smarter first move than adding RAM.

Managing FTB Chunks, FTB Teams and FTB Ranks

Most recent FTB packs ship their own server management mods. FTB Teams groups players into teams, and FTB Quests shares quest progress across that team, so a crew completes one quest book together. Knowing that progress follows the team when someone joins later heads off a lot of "where did my quests go" questions.

FTB Chunks lets players claim chunks from the map screen and force-load some of them to keep them active. Claims protect against griefing, but force-loading keeps machines running with no one online, which translates straight into server load. Keeping the per-player force-load limit low is one of the most effective things you can do for TPS.

FTB Ranks handles ranks and permissions without a separate permissions mod. FTB Essentials, which many packs include, adds home and teleport commands, and FTB Ranks is where you decide which rank gets to use them.

What should you watch out for when updating an FTB pack?

FTB packs update often, particularly in the first months after release. Before you start, take a manual backup from the panel and read the new version's changelog in the FTB App. If a mod was dropped, its blocks and items are wiped from the world, and quest book edits can shift each team's progress.

Java depends on the pack's age. Classics on 1.7.10 need Java 8, packs on 1.18 through 1.20.4 need Java 17, and NeoForge packs on 1.20.5 or newer need Java 21. When you jump from an old pack to a new one, make sure the server starts on the right Java; if you see a version error, just contact support.

After the update, watch the console, confirm a clean start and only then move players to the new version in the FTB App. A server and client stuck on different versions is the most common cause of mismatched mod errors at login.

Why does TPS drop on an FTB server, and how do you fix it?

There are three classic culprits: generating new chunks, bases kept permanently loaded through force-loading and runaway automation. The cure for chunk generation is pre-generating the world to a fixed radius before players spread out. Chunky runs only on the server, so if the pack does not include it you can add it without players installing anything.

To find where the problem lives, run /forge tps in the console, or /neoforge tps on NeoForge packs; tick times are listed per dimension. For a deeper look, the spark profiler shows exactly which block or entity eats the most time.

On block packs, piles of dropped items and crowded mob farms are frequent offenders. On kitchen-sink packs it is usually sprawling pipe networks. Keeping view-distance and simulation-distance reasonable lightens the server load while players still see far into the distance.

How to Set Up a FTB Server Server

  1. 1

Choose a plan for your pack and group

Gold 8GB suits block packs and small groups; Direwolf20-style kitchen-sink packs are happier on Platinum 10GB or higher. Setup kicks off automatically after payment.

  2. 2

Decide on the pack and version

Check the version list for the pack in the FTB App and note the one you want. If you are unsure where to enter the pack and version, our support team will point the way.

  3. 3

    Watch the first boot

Start the server from the panel and follow mod loading in the console. A large pack can take a few minutes on its first start, so wait for the done message.

  4. 4

Set server.properties and FTB Chunks limits

Configure allow-flight=true, the whitelist and view-distance. In FTB Chunks, size the per-player claim and force-load limits to fit your community.

  5. 5

    Hand out permissions

Op yourself from the console, then create ranks in FTB Ranks for moderators and players and decide which commands each rank can use.

  6. 6

Invite players through the FTB App

Players install the same pack at the same version in the FTB App, launch it and enter your panel's IP:port under Multiplayer > Add Server.

Frequently Asked Questions

What people want to know about versions, RAM, FTB mods and joining before moving a Feed The Beast pack onto a server.

What is the price of an FTB server?
The cheapest way into FTB server hosting is Gold 8GB at ₺440.00 ($11.00) per month. There are 5 plans for this server type, with 8 GB to 32 GB of RAM. Every plan carries the same extras (DDoS protection, automatic backups, SFTP and unlimited traffic); the only variables are RAM, vCores and disk space.
Which plan fits which FTB pack?
For block packs like StoneBlock, OceanBlock or Skies with a small group, Gold 8GB is enough. Large kitchen-sink packs such as Direwolf20 run more comfortably on Platinum 10GB for small groups and Diamond 12GB for six to twelve players. Bigger communities should look at Emerald or Xtreme.
Can I run older FTB packs too?
Yes. Classics such as Infinity Evolved on 1.7.10 or Revelation on 1.12.2 can be run as well. These packs need Java 8 and use less memory per mod. Players just install the same version of the same pack in the FTB App; if the server shows a Java-related problem, open a ticket and we will help.
How do I limit claims and force-loading in FTB Chunks?
The FTB Chunks server settings define how many chunks each player can claim and how many they can force-load. Claims protect against griefing, so they can be generous, but every force-loaded chunk costs processing time even when the server is empty. Keeping the force-load limit low is the easiest way to protect TPS.
Can I put extra mods on top of the FTB pack?
Yes, the mods folder is open to you through the file manager or SFTP. Server-only mods like Chunky or spark can be added without touching players' installs. Content mods must be installed by every player too, otherwise they will get a mismatch error when joining. Back up before making changes.
When will my server be ready?
The FTB install begins by itself as soon as your payment is confirmed. Downloading the pack files takes longer for bigger packs, and a large FTB pack can need a few minutes on its first boot. As soon as the console prints its done message, players can join.
How do my friends join?
Each player installs the FTB App, adds the pack your server runs at the same version and launches the game. From the title screen, Multiplayer > Add Server takes the IP:port shown in your panel. Whitelisted servers need a whitelist add for each newcomer first; you can also invite them to your team through FTB Teams.
Is my server backed up?
Yes. Automatic backups are on for every FTB server, and you can add manual snapshots from the panel at any point. The riskiest moments on FTB servers are version updates and mod removals, and a backup taken just before either one restores the world and quest progress within minutes.
Is there DDoS protection?
Yes. DDoS protection is free on all of our game servers and active from the moment the server is created. Even a public FTB community stays reachable because attack traffic is filtered before it hits the game. Traffic is unlimited, so busy event nights do not add charges.
Can the plan grow with my FTB community?
Yes. When the community outgrows its plan, the customer area lets you step up to a stronger one at any time. When player numbers climb or late-game force-loaded bases multiply, stepping up from Gold to Diamond or Emerald is a common move. Taking a panel backup before switching is a good habit.
