Infrastructure tuned for a 1.6.4 modpack that keeps several dimensions running at once.
The Moon, Mars, Mystcraft ages and pocket dimensions all run through the same main loop; the Ryzen 9 9950X's high clock speed keeps that combined load smooth.
Launch pads, space stations and newly explored planets all grow the world folder, and fast NVMe storage with generous capacity absorbs that growth easily.
The official server file ships with allow-flight=true, so players using Simply Jetpacks or Modular Power Suits are not kicked for flying.
Run op, whitelist and save-all from the panel console, and spot exactly which mod failed by reading the startup log as it scrolls.
Restore the world after a broken Mystcraft age or a Redstone in Motion structure moved into the wrong place, then pick up where you stopped.
Public Tekkit servers draw attacks; free DDoS protection on every plan helps keep your players connected without extra configuration.
Tekkit server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at $8.63 per month and gets you your own server for the Technic Platform's Tekkit pack, the Minecraft 1.6.4 mix of Galacticraft, Applied Energistics, Thermal Expansion and Mystcraft, running on a Ryzen 9 9950X with NVMe SSD storage. The pack's space theme is a real workload: the Moon, Mars, Mystcraft ages and Dimensional Doors pockets each tick as separate dimensions, which is why single-core speed matters. With the server in İstanbul, your crew in Türkiye connects with low latency, and you manage files over SFTP and the console from a web panel.
The pack listed on the Technic Platform simply as Tekkit runs on Minecraft 1.6.4 and bundles around sixty mods. Its description opens with 'We have Liftoff!', and space really is the core: build rockets with Galacticraft to reach the Moon and Mars, open pocket dimensions with Dimensional Doors, and write your own ages with Mystcraft books. On the industrial side you get Thermal Expansion and Redstone Arsenal, Big Reactors for power, Applied Energistics and ExtraCells for storage, and MineFactory Reloaded, Logistics Pipes and Steve's Carts for automation. Equivalent Exchange 3, Project: Red, ComputerCraft and qCraft are in there too.
The biggest difference from Tekkit Classic is that IndustrialCraft 2 is not part of this pack; power mostly flows through Thermal Expansion's RF system instead. Blocks like Trade Booth and Vending Block allow players to run their own shops, which makes Tekkit a solid base for small economy servers as well as private worlds.
The Tekkit name covers several different packs, and each has its own server files. Tekkit Classic started it all on Minecraft 1.2.5, built around Equivalent Exchange 2, RedPower 2 and IndustrialCraft 2. The Tekkit on this page is the 1.6.4 edition focused on space, dimensions and ME storage. Tekkit Legends moves to 1.7.10 and recreates the old atmosphere with ProjectE, IC2 Classic and BluePower. Tekkit 2 carries the classic idea onto Minecraft 1.12.2 with more than a hundred mods, and the 2025 Tekkit SMP builds on Tekkit 2 by adding Thaumcraft, Mystcraft and Mo' Creatures.
Worlds cannot be moved between these packs, because every one has a different mod list and Minecraft version. Here is a quick way to choose: if you want Galacticraft, Applied Energistics and Mystcraft together with the lighter footprint of 1.6.4, you are in the right place. If IC2 reactors and EE2 nostalgia are the draw, Tekkit Classic fits better, and if you want a more current foundation, look at Tekkit 2.
The launch.sh script in the official server archive starts Java with -Xms2G and -Xmx3G, which tells you the pack boots on a fresh world with just a few gigabytes. In real play, the number of active dimensions sets the pace. On top of the Nether and the End, the Moon, Mars, every Mystcraft age and every Dimensional Doors pocket stays in memory and keeps ticking as long as a player or a chunk loader is there. Since even a five-person crew can have bases in three or four dimensions at once, we see Silver 6GB as the starting point and Gold 8GB as the comfortable tier once planetary bases go up.
On the CPU side, a 1.6.4 server runs the world tick on a single main thread, so clock speed matters more than core count, and that is where the Ryzen 9 9950X pulls ahead. Disk is not a worry: the server archive is about 85 MB. What grows is the set of explored planets and newly written ages, so glance at your world folder size every so often.
The server archive from the Tekkit page on the Technic Platform contains Tekkit.jar, minecraft_server.1.6.4.jar, a libraries folder, the mods and config folders, launch.sh and launch.bat, and a ready-made server.properties. That file already has allow-flight=true; keep it on so players using jetpacks or power armor are not kicked. Minecraft 1.6.4 predates the eula.txt requirement, so the server will not ask for one on first boot.
Java 8 is all you need, and the pack already includes LegacyJavaFixer, the mod that stops older Forge builds from crashing at startup on newer Java releases. Use the op command from the console to grant permissions, and for a friends-only server set white-list=true and add people with whitelist add. The official server is pure Forge, so Bukkit plugins are not supported. If you want to add another 1.6.4 mod, install it on the server and in every player's Technic install, and check the configs for conflicts, since block IDs in this era are still numeric.
The most common source of Tekkit lag is chunks that stay loaded around the clock. ChickenChunks loaders, Galacticraft bases and forgotten Mystcraft ages keep ticking even when nobody is online. Lowering the per-mod ticket and chunk limits in config/forgeChunkLoading.cfg, setting a sensible per-player loader rule and asking people to remove idle loaders is the first step.
The second source is large-scale automation. Dozens of MineFactory Reloaded machines, Applied Energistics networks with lots of buses, and huge structures moved with Redstone in Motion can all cause sudden tick spikes. On busy servers, dropping view-distance from 10 to 8 noticeably reduces the chunk load. Restarting the server from the panel every so often also clears memory that builds up over long sessions. When stutter starts, read the console warnings and note which dimension is busiest; more often than not the trouble traces back to one factory a single player forgot about.
Silver 6GB suits a small crew, and Gold 8GB or higher suits groups planning bases on several planets; your server is created automatically once payment clears.
Grab the server file from the Tekkit page on the Technic Platform, note the build number in the archive name, and extract it to a folder on your computer.
Upload Tekkit.jar, minecraft_server.1.6.4.jar, libraries, mods, config and server.properties to the root directory using the SFTP details in your panel.
Launch from Tekkit.jar with Java 8 and watch the console as each mod loads; the main world is generated on the first start.
Set the motd, max-players and whitelist choice in server.properties, then adjust loader limits in forgeChunkLoading.cfg to fit your community.
Players install the Tekkit pack in the Technic Launcher (not Tekkit Classic), select the same build as your server and add your IP:port under Multiplayer.
