On an EXILED server most of the work is keeping plugins compatible, and these features are chosen with that in mind.
Upload plugin .dll files to EXILED/Plugins and any required libraries to Plugins/dependencies through SFTP or the file manager, then restart to load them.
EXILED writes its own settings and every plugin's settings to Configs/<port>-config.yml on first boot, so you can rework round logic one plugin at a time in a text editor.
Decide who can run each plugin command through groups and inheritance chains in EXILED's permissions.yml, mapped to the Remote Admin roles you already use.
Servers running dozens of plugins, custom roles and spawned map objects need more RAM than vanilla, and you can step up to a bigger DDR5 plan without moving files.
A Northwood patch can break plugins, so snapshot the server in the panel beforehand and restore the EXILED and Plugins folders in one move if anything fails.
If the server throws plugin errors on boot or a dll refuses to load, ask the Turkish-speaking support team through tickets, Discord, WhatsApp or live chat, 24/7.
An EXILED-powered SCP: Secret Laboratory server at TheCrewHost costs from ₺240.00 (about $6.00) per month and runs in İstanbul on a Ryzen 9 9950X with DDR5 memory and NVMe storage. EXILED is the community framework that loads on top of Northwood's official LabAPI loader and gives plugin authors an event system plus custom role and custom item APIs. You drop plugin .dll files into EXILED/Plugins over SFTP and tune each one through YAML files named after your server's port. If you want an unmodified server that plays the way Northwood ships it, our vanilla SCP:SL page is the better match.
EXILED is a high-level plugin framework for SCP: Secret Laboratory servers. It exposes an event system that hooks into moments in the game code, such as a player spawning, opening a door or feeding an item into SCP-914, and plugin authors attach to those events to change how the game behaves. Its Exiled.CustomRoles and Exiled.CustomItems modules make it possible to define entirely new roles and items.
With version 14.1, Northwood released LabAPI, an official plugin loader bundled with the dedicated server. Current EXILED builds load through LabAPI and extend it with a much richer API. The project continues as a community-maintained fork following a change in its leadership.
The practical difference is simple. A vanilla server plays the game exactly as Northwood designed it, while an EXILED server gets rebuilt around your community's taste. New factions, SCP swap menus, respawn timers for spectators, event rounds and automated broadcasts are all plugin territory. Pick this plan if you want rounds that feel different from the stock game; pick the vanilla SCP:SL plan if you want the pure experience.
On a Linux server, EXILED lives in ~/.config/EXILED. Plugin .dll files belong in EXILED/Plugins, and any extra libraries a plugin needs go in EXILED/Plugins/dependencies. The framework generates its own settings and all plugin settings in EXILED/Configs/<port>-config.yml the first time the server starts, with translation files stored alongside.
There are two official install routes: point the Exiled.Installer-Linux tool at your server directory, or extract the EXILED and SCP Secret Laboratory folders from the release archive into the .config directory by hand. On TheCrewHost, check the panel console right after setup, because EXILED prints its own lines while loading. If you do not see them, or you are moving to a newer EXILED release, upload the archive over SFTP and put the folders in place.
Follow the same routine for every plugin: upload the dll, restart, confirm in the console that it loaded, then edit the YAML it generated. EXILED does include a 'reload plugins' command, but not every plugin handles hot reloading gracefully, so a clean restart is the safer choice for important changes.
EXILED itself is light; what your plugins actually do decides the memory bill. Ten to fifteen standard plugins, such as admin tools, broadcasts and a respawn timer, add roughly 1 GB on top of a vanilla baseline. Schematic plugins that place large numbers of objects on the map, custom roles with many abilities and stat trackers that keep per-player data are far hungrier.
A workable rule of thumb: Bronze with 4 GB covers a 15 to 20 player server with a few light plugins, Silver or Gold suits a typical EXILED community, and Platinum or higher makes sense for servers that push 40 players with a heavy plugin stack.
Watch the CPU side too. Plugin events run on the game's main loop, so a single badly written plugin doing heavy work every tick drags down the server's TPS, and players feel that as stutter. The Ryzen 9 9950X's strong single-core speed buys headroom, but it cannot fix bad code. Track performance with a plugin that displays TPS, and isolate a suspect by moving its dll out of the folder.
EXILED and its plugins attach to the game's internals through Harmony patches. When Northwood ships a major update, those internals can change, and an outdated EXILED build either errors on startup or some plugins quietly stop working. Each plugin is compiled against a specific EXILED version, so when the framework updates, your plugins need their matching releases too.
Experienced owners follow a simple routine. Take a full backup in the panel as soon as a big SCP:SL update is announced. Give the EXILED team and plugin authors a few days to publish compatible builds. Then update EXILED first, the plugins second, and read the console line by line.
The console error usually names the plugin at fault. Moving that plugin's dll into a temporary folder and restarting brings everything else back online. Skipping the update entirely is not an option, though: when the server and client game versions differ, nobody can connect.
Command permissions for EXILED plugins are defined as groups in permissions.yml. Every group must include both an inheritance field and a permissions field, even if they are empty, and inheritance lets one group pick up another group's permissions. Because the group names line up with the Remote Admin roles in config_remoteadmin.txt, the cleanest order is to build the roles first and the plugin permissions second.
Northwood's Community Server Guidelines are clear about modified servers: every change that affects gameplay must be reported through the game's modded flag. An EXILED server with custom roles, new factions or altered SCP abilities falls squarely into that category. The transparently_modded_server flag is reserved for plugins that do not touch gameplay, such as admin utilities or informational messages.
Being modded does not keep you off the list; plenty of verified servers are modded. What matters is reporting your status honestly and not misleading players with your server name. Verification is always Northwood's decision.
Start on Bronze for a few light plugins, Silver or Gold for a typical community server with ten to fifteen plugins, and Platinum for schematic-heavy or custom-role servers.
When the automatic install finishes, open the console at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net and look for EXILED's loading lines; if they are missing, upload the release archive into .config over SFTP.
Check that each plugin targets your EXILED version, place the dll in EXILED/Plugins and its libraries in Plugins/dependencies, then restart the server.
Adjust plugin settings in Configs/<port>-config.yml, link command permissions in permissions.yml to your Remote Admin roles, and restart to apply the changes.
Flag the server as modded if your plugins change gameplay. While verification is pending, players join by typing your IP and port into Direct Connect.
