We focused on what BATTALION: Legacy server admins need most: match control, rule settings and a stable connection.
With the LimitToNationWeapons setting from Patch 1.1 turned on, each team can only use its own nation's weapons. A one-line setting for historically faithful matches and themed events.
Put a password on the server for scrims and clan matches; the password check was fixed in Patch 1.1. On the network side, free DDoS protection runs as standard on every plan.
The BATTALION: Legacy server runs on Unreal Engine, with most game logic on the main thread. The Ryzen 9 9950X's clock speed keeps it smooth even in the busy opening seconds of a round.
Your server is installed from the official BATTALION: Legacy Dedicated Server files the developer distributes through SteamCMD, running as the BattalionServer process.
Watch server output live at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net, restart, edit .ini config files in the browser and use SFTP/FTP for bulk file transfers.
Map loads are quick on NVMe storage. Automatic backups let you return to a working setup before match night if a config experiment goes wrong.
BATTALION: Legacy server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at ₺240.00 ($6.00) per month and gives you a BATTALION: Legacy dedicated server running on a Ryzen 9 9950X in İstanbul. Legacy is the revisited, final version of Battalion 1944, released free to everyone in 2022, and Patch 1.1 made it possible for players to host their own dedicated servers. Run 5v5 Wartide scrims, arcade modes or passworded clan matches, and use the LimitToNationWeapons setting to restrict each team to its own nation's weapons. You reach the config files through the web panel and over SFTP.
BATTALION: Legacy is a fast, skill-focused WW2 shooter inspired by classics like Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 4. The heart of any server is Wartide: two teams of five take turns attacking and defending objectives, earning tokens by winning rounds and completing objectives, then spending them on weapons. A badly managed economy can cost the next few rounds, which makes Wartide scrims serious practice for teams.
For communities that want something more relaxed, there are the arcade modes. Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Domination and Free For All, plus Rifles Only where everyone fights with bolt-action rifles, are the classic picks on community servers that fill up in the evening.
With your own server you set the rules: bring two teams together on a passworded scrim server, warm new players up on an open arcade server, or run a themed event with LimitToNationWeapons turned on.
Player-hosted servers became officially supported with Patch 1.1. The server files are downloaded in SteamCMD under app ID 805140 with an anonymous login, and they start with BattalionServer.exe on Windows or BattalionServer.sh on Linux. At TheCrewHost this install happens automatically after payment.
The server's Steam query port is set with the -QueryPort launch parameter, and it has to be reachable for the server browser to show your server correctly. Your panel lists the ports assigned to your server, so always give players and Steam favorites those values.
Because the game is built on Unreal Engine, server settings live in .ini config files. Server name, password, mode and map rotation, and options like LimitToNationWeapons are all managed there. Open the files in the panel's file manager to edit them, and take a backup first so a bad line cannot ruin match night. Changes apply when the server restarts.
Bronze 4GB is enough for a Wartide 5v5 scrim or a small clan server. In a ten-player match, the memory needs of the Unreal-based server stay comfortably inside 4 GB, and 50 GB of NVMe covers the server files and backups.
If you run a community server with bigger arcade lobbies, Silver 6GB or Gold 8GB leaves safer headroom for peak hours. Since the server logic mostly runs on one core, CPU clock speed is what really matters, and the Ryzen 9 9950X is the same on every plan.
Every plan from Bronze to Diamond comes with 4 vCores. The extra cores on Emerald and Xtreme give a single BATTALION: Legacy server no clear benefit, so those plans are more than this game needs. Starting small and upgrading from the panel as your server fills up is the sensible route.
On a competitive match server, the password comes first. Once the server has one, only the two teams you share it with can get in, and thanks to the password check fix in Patch 1.1 that protection now works reliably. The same patch fixed the ready-up start type for private servers, so a match starts properly once both teams are ready.
Lock the match rules into the config file to fit your league or tournament format, and keep a known-good copy of that file backed up. If you are running a historically faithful event, switch on LimitToNationWeapons so each side plays with its own nation's arsenal.
Restarting the server from the panel between matches is the easiest way to clear any state left from the previous session. Running a short test session before match night to confirm ports, password and rotation heads off last-minute surprises.
Players find your server by name in the in-game server browser and join with a double click. Clicking the star icon next to a server adds it to their favorites, keeping it at the top of their list, which is a small feature that helps a lot with a regular community.
Players can also add the server's IP and port under View > Game Servers > Favorites in the Steam client. On a passworded server, the game asks for the password while connecting. To avoid confusion, always share the IP and port shown in your panel.
With the server in İstanbul, players connecting from Türkiye get low latency, and it is generally a balanced location for opposing teams joining from Europe, the Middle East and the Caucasus. Because the game is free, inviting new players is easy: sharing your server name on Discord is enough.
Bronze 4GB covers Wartide 5v5 scrims and clan matches. For a community server that fills up with busy arcade modes, choose Silver 6GB or Gold 8GB.
Once payment is confirmed, the official dedicated server files install automatically and your server appears in gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net. Follow the first start in the console.
Open the .ini config files in the panel's file manager and set the server name, a password if needed, and your mode and map rotation. Back up before changing anything.
Enable LimitToNationWeapons for a themed event. After saving, restart the server from the panel and check in the console that your settings loaded.
Find your server in the in-game browser, star it as a favorite, and send the name and password to your team or Discord community.
