Everything your group needs to keep a RAGECOOP server up without babysitting it.
Host on your own PC and everyone drops when you log off. At TheCrewHost, RageCoop.Server runs continuously, so friends can jump in and keep playing even when you are away.
Edit Port, MaxPlayers, Name, WelcomeMessage, AnnounceSelf, WeatherTimeSync, NpcStreamingDistance and more in the file manager, then restart from the panel.
Drop server resources into Resources/Server and client resources into Resources/Client, as folders or zips, while .respkg packages go into Resources/Packages.
RAGECOOP has no server password setting. The Management resource adds registered accounts, and switching AllowGuest off lets only the friends you have registered get in.
The world runs inside each player's own GTA V while the server relays player, vehicle and NPC data. Hosting in İstanbul keeps that relay path short for players in Türkiye.
Settings.xml, the Resources folder and resource data files are backed up automatically. Snapshot manually before switching versions and you can always return to a known-good setup.
RAGECOOP server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at $6.00 per month (₺240.00), with 4 GB to 32 GB of RAM for keeping a RAGECOOP server online around the clock so your group can play GTA V's story mode together. It is not a roleplay platform; RAGECOOP is a co-op mod for running missions together, free roaming and messing around with mods in the single-player world. The server runs as RageCoop.Server, and you reach Settings.xml and the Resources folder through the panel file manager or SFTP. Your İstanbul server comes with a publicly reachable IP:port, so the port forwarding or ZeroTier setup that home hosting needs simply goes away.
RAGECOOP is an open-source co-op mod that turns GTA V's story mode into a multiplayer experience. In the project's own words, you can complete missions with friends, use mods without restriction, or just mess around together in Los Santos. Bullets, vehicles, NPCs and projectiles are synchronized, and there is a simple ragdoll sync as well.
The key difference from platforms such as RAGE:MP is architecture. Those run server-side code and are built for persistent roleplay worlds with hundreds of players. RAGECOOP shares GTA V's single-player world instead: most game logic runs inside each player's own game, and the server relays data between them. The default player cap is 32, and the whole experience is shaped around small groups of friends.
Who should pick it? Anyone who wants to play story mode with friends, try single-player mods together, or script small events of their own in C#. If you are after a roleplay server with character registration, an economy and factions, a server-authoritative platform like RAGE:MP is the better fit, and it is worth being clear about that before you start.
RAGECOOP is a client-side mod, so every player adds a few components to their own GTA V install. The project lists ScriptHookV, ScriptHookVDotNet 3.6.0 or later and the .NET Framework 4.8 runtime as requirements. Each player downloads the release from GitHub, extracts it somewhere outside the game directory and runs RageCoop.Client.Installer.exe from the RageCoop folder.
The most common headache is a GTA V update. When the game patches, ScriptHookV can stop working until it is updated too, and the mod will not load in the meantime. If you play as a group, having everyone check their ScriptHookV version after a major game update saves an evening of troubleshooting.
The other rule is version matching. The project notes that new releases are incompatible with previous RAGECOOP versions and that old files should be removed before installing. Keeping RageCoop.Server and every player's client on the same version prevents most connection failures before they happen, and switching versions together as a group, on the same night, is the cleanest way to handle upgrades.
Every RAGECOOP server setting lives in Settings.xml, which the server generates on first launch. Port defaults to 4499 over UDP, MaxPlayers to 32 and MaxLatency to 500. Name, Description, GameMode (FreeRoam by default), Language and Website fill in what the server list shows, and WelcomeMessage is the greeting a player sees on connect.
Set AnnounceSelf to true to publish the server to the master list; for a private friend group you can leave it false and share the address directly. WeatherTimeSync keeps weather and time identical for everyone, and UseVoice turns on in-game voice chat. NpcStreamingDistance (500 by default) limits how far NPC data is sent, and PlayerStreamingDistance does the same for player data, with -1 meaning unlimited.
For abuse control, KickSpamming kicks anyone who spawns more entities than SpamLimit allows, and KickGodMode removes players using invincibility cheats. UseZeroTier and UseP2P exist for servers running behind a home router, and you generally will not need them on a TheCrewHost server with a public address.
RAGECOOP has no classic server password; the supported way to restrict access is the official Management resource. Place RageCoop.Resources.Management.respkg in Resources/Packages and start the server. In the console, run “/register username password” to create your account and “/setrole username Admin” to make yourself an administrator.
One step is easy to miss: the resource ships with a default admin account called Sausage, and you should delete it with “/unregister Sausage”. Then stop the server, open Config.json in Resources/Server/data/RageCoop.Resources.Management and set AllowGuest to false. From that point only registered users can join, entering their password in the in-game RAGECOOP menu.
This is the cleanest way to stay visible in the public list while only letting people you know inside. Management commands can also be run from in-game chat, so day-to-day admin work does not require going back to the console. If you would rather not be listed at all, leaving AnnounceSelf set to false adds another layer of privacy.
The honest answer: the smallest plan covers almost every RAGECOOP server. The world and physics run on each player's PC, and the server mostly relays player, vehicle and NPC data, which takes very little memory. Bronze, with 4 GB of RAM, comfortably handles a friend group up to the default 32-player cap. Larger plans only make sense if you run many custom C# resources or raise MaxPlayers for experimental events.
Go in knowing where the project stands. The latest stable release on GitHub is 1.5.4.7 from November 2023, alongside nightly builds that the project itself describes as not thoroughly tested. With AutoUpdate enabled in Settings.xml, the server checks for a new nightly every 10 minutes and updates itself; if you want stability, keep it off and plan version changes with your group.
In short, RAGECOOP is a fun, lightweight option for small groups. If you are aiming for a persistent community of hundreds of players that expects regular updates, look at a more actively developed, server-side platform instead.
Bronze is plenty for a friend group. Once payment is confirmed, installation starts on its own and your RAGECOOP server appears in the panel.
Open Settings.xml in the file manager and set Name, WelcomeMessage and MaxPlayers. Turn AnnounceSelf on if you want to be listed, and leave AutoUpdate off.
Upload the Management .respkg to Resources/Packages, register yourself and set the Admin role in the console, delete the default Sausage account and set AllowGuest to false.
Each player installs ScriptHookV, ScriptHookVDotNet 3.6.0 or later and .NET Framework 4.8, then runs the installer for the RAGECOOP client version that matches your server.
Players launch GTA V, open the RAGECOOP menu and connect to the IP:port from your panel, or pick the server from the list if AnnounceSelf is on.
