Full access to Nova-Life's config files, plugin system and save data, plus the memory this Unity server actually needs.
server.json handles the server core, roleplay.json economy values like starting money and fuel price, carDealership.json the car dealer and announcer.json automatic announcements, all editable in the file manager.
Load DLL plugins built on TeamNova's plugin API with chat commands, menus, checkpoints and event triggers; features of the old Essentials plugin now ship inside the game itself.
isWhitelisted closes your server to applicants only, the whitelist section adds an intro text and questions, and useWhitelistProtection keeps pending players inside the whitelist area.
Characters, land plots and businesses live in the server's life.db file; autoSaveIntervalSeconds saves every 1800 seconds by default, and panel backups protect that file separately.
The server is a headless Unity application targeting 60 frames by default through serverFramerate; it uses several cores at once, so the Ryzen 9 9950X gives it comfortable headroom.
With isPublicServer on, your server appears in the in-game list. The Steam list needs a query port in addition to the game port, and queryPort and steamPort are set in server.json.
Nova-Life: Amboise server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at ₺240.00 per month (about $6.00), though for this game we recommend starting on the 8 GB Gold plan; plans from 4 GB to 32 GB run on a Ryzen 9 9950X with NVMe SSD storage in Istanbul. Developed by TeamNova, Nova-Life is a free roleplay simulation set in a town inspired by Amboise, France, built around jobs, businesses and land plots. You configure your server through server.json, roleplay.json, carDealership.json and announcer.json, and extend it with C# plugins. Whitelist application questions, the autosave interval and admin PIN authentication are all yours to set, and free DDoS protection comes with every plan.
Nova-Life: Amboise is a multiplayer roleplay simulation developed by TeamNova, free to play on Steam and in Early Access since April 22, 2019. It takes place in an open world inspired by the town of Amboise in France's Centre-Val de Loire region, where players create a character, find a job, earn a salary and start their own companies.
Servers revolve around everyday-life roleplay: public service careers like police and emergency services, mechanic, towing and decoration businesses, and production chains such as woodcutting, mining, winemaking and furniture. Players buy land plots and furnish their homes and workplaces from top to bottom, and everything they place stays where they put it. Voice chat is part of the game alongside text chat.
The game is updated regularly, and the 2026 releases brought vehicle overhauls, new production chains and map changes. For a server owner, that means making a backup before every game update a habit. The core community speaks French, but nothing stops you from running a private English-speaking or Turkish roleplay server with your own rules and language.
Nova-Life needs more memory than many game servers. Community-maintained server setup notes list 8 GB of RAM as the minimum, around 9 GB as recommended and 6 to 8 GB of disk space. The server also uses several CPU cores at once. So Bronze 4GB and Silver 6GB are not plans we recommend for this game.
For a server on the default 25 slots with only a few plugins, Gold 8GB meets the minimum. On a server with plugins that fills up in the evening and where players furnish their homes heavily, Platinum 10GB leaves headroom above the recommended figure and is the most balanced choice. Communities running lots of plugins and higher slot counts fit Diamond 12GB, and crowded, densely built towns fit Emerald 16GB. Xtreme 32GB is more than most Nova-Life servers need.
What grows memory most is the number of connected players, the amount of furniture and objects placed across the map and the work your plugins do. Setting a per-plot object limit in the plot management menu keeps both memory use and save times under control over the long run.
Each server lives in its own folder, named after the server, under the Servers directory, and its settings sit in that folder's Config directory. The files are generated the first time the server starts, and after editing them you need to restart for changes to take effect.
server.json is the core. serverListName is the name shown in the list, serverSlot the player cap and serverPort the game port. isPublicServer puts your server in the public list, and useAdminPinAuth turns on PIN authentication for admins. isWhitelisted, useWhitelistProtection and the whitelist section run the application system, autoSaveIntervalSeconds sets the save interval, disconnectClientsBeforeStop cleanly removes players before shutdown, mapId selects the map and serverFramerate sets the server's frame target. hasShop relates to showing a shop logo in the server list.
roleplay.json shapes the economy: starting money, the maximum number of properties per player, the fuel price and the chance of streetlights breaking down all live here. carDealership.json sets the dealer's location, models and prices, and announcer.json defines multiple automatic announcements and the time between them.
Nova-Life servers are extended with DLL plugins written in C#. TeamNova's French-language documentation at docs.team-nova.fr walks through creating chat commands, subscribing to events and overriding methods, pedestrian and vehicle checkpoints, tabbed and priced menus, and storing data with JSON, all with code examples. Events such as a player entering or leaving a vehicle are exposed to plugins as triggers. The documentation explicitly forbids decompiling the game, so plugins should be built on the official API only.
The features of the Essentials plugin, which used to be a separate install, were built into the game in version 1.58.1, so you do not need an extra plugin for basic administration. Admin duty is toggled with a key assigned in the game settings. The admin panel shows online players, a list of recently disconnected players and support tickets. /editbiz edits businesses, /setfuel changes the fuel price, and a right click on the map teleports you.
Upload plugins over SFTP or the file manager and restart the server. Because game updates can change the plugin API, keeping an eye on TeamNova's version comparison page helps you spot plugins that break after an update.
A common path in Nova-Life is to create a server from inside the game on your own PC first and move it to a hosted server later. The game creates a folder named after the server under the Servers directory, containing life.db, which holds your entire save, and the Config directory.
To move it, stop the hosted server first. Then upload the life.db file and the Config contents from your local server folder over SFTP into the folder with the same name on the hosted server. The server name must match the name the server is started with exactly; a different folder name means the server will not find your save. Finally, change serverPort in server.json from your old local port to the port assigned to you in the panel.
Do not delete your local copy during this process. Keep it as a backup until the first boot confirms everything is in place. If plots, businesses and characters look the way they did before, your server is ready. Our support team can help with any step you are unsure about.
Players install Nova-Life: Amboise, which is free on Steam, and find your server by name in the in-game server list. Saved servers sync through Steam Cloud, so once players add yours, they can come back easily from another PC too.
To appear in the list, isPublicServer must be enabled in server.json. The public Steam server list also needs the Steam query port to be reachable alongside the game port, and since version 1.61.9.1 queryPort and steamPort can be set in server.json. If you do not see an extra port in the panel, just message our support team.
With the whitelist on, new players first answer your application questions and wait in the whitelist area until an admin approves them. Running your town from Istanbul keeps latency low for players in Türkiye, and connections from Europe are generally smooth as well.
The Nova-Life server is memory-hungry; start with Gold 8GB for a simple 25-slot server, or Platinum 10GB for busier servers running plugins.
Once payment clears, the Nova-Life server files install automatically and your panel shows the console, file manager and SFTP connection details.
Start the server once and stop it; server.json, roleplay.json, carDealership.json and announcer.json appear in the Config folder. Some console errors stem from ongoing development and are usually harmless.
Set serverListName, serverSlot and serverPort, turn on isPublicServer to be listed, and enable the whitelist and useAdminPinAuth if you need them.
Set starting money and the fuel price in roleplay.json, upload your C# plugin DLLs over SFTP, and restart so the changes take effect.
Post your server's list name on Discord; players open the free Nova-Life client on Steam and join you from the server list.
From memory requirements and whitelist setup to plugins and moving your save, the questions Nova-Life server owners ask most.
