What it takes to keep a classic like MOHAA running smoothly today.
Core settings like sv_hostname, sv_maxclients, g_gametype, timelimit and fraglimit live in server.cfg in the main folder. Edit it in the file manager and restart the server.
Set an rconpassword and you can change maps, kick players and adjust settings without leaving the match. The panel console sends the same commands from your browser.
List maps such as dm/mohdm6 Stalingrad, dm/mohdm7 Algiers or obj/obj_team2 V2 Rocket Facility in sv_maplist to build your own rotation.
Upload community maps, skin packs and mods as .pk3 files to the main folder over SFTP. Remember that players need the same files installed on their side.
The id Tech 3-based MOHAA server is light, but single-core speed still matters. The Ryzen 9 9950X keeps server frames steady even in a full Objective match.
Older game servers are often targeted through their query ports. Free DDoS protection on every plan filters that traffic and helps keep clan matches running.
TheCrewHost MOHAA server hosting starts at ₺240.00 per month and gives you a dedicated server for the 2002 classic Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, running on a Ryzen 9 9950X with NVMe storage. Pick Free-For-All, Team Match, Round-Based or Objective with g_gametype, build your map rotation with sv_maplist and run the server from inside the game over rcon. The server lives in our İstanbul datacenter, so veteran clans and new players in Türkiye and nearby regions get low-latency sniper duels on Stalingrad. Custom maps and skin packs go in as .pk3 files. Setup is automatic after payment, with DDoS protection and automatic backups included.
A Medal of Honor: Allied Assault server runs four multiplayer modes, selected with g_gametype: 1 Free-For-All, 2 Team Match, 3 Round-Based Match and 4 Objective. Team Match is the classic respawning team fight; in Round-Based, dead players sit out until the round ends, which is why clans swear by it. In Objective, one team tries to blow up a target while the other defends it.
The stock maps live in the dm and obj folders. Stalingrad (dm/mohdm6) and Algiers (dm/mohdm7) remain the most-played deathmatch maps, while The Hunt (obj/obj_team1) and V2 Rocket Facility (obj/obj_team2) are the Objective classics. Forget to set g_gametype to 4 when loading an Objective map and it will not run under Objective rules.
Most people renting a MOHAA server are either getting an old clan back together or running nostalgia nights for their community. Spearhead and Breakthrough are separate expansions with their own multiplayer; the server on this page is for Allied Assault, and your players need to connect with Allied Assault too.
MOHAA runs on an id Tech 3-based engine and asks for very little by today's standards; Bronze 4GB is more than enough for a single server. Even a full 32-player Team Match uses only a small slice of the plan's memory.
To be straight with you: a bigger plan will not make a MOHAA server faster. The server processes game frames on one core, and every plan from Bronze to Diamond gets the same 4 vCore Ryzen 9 9950X allocation. Higher tiers only add memory and disk space.
Silver 6GB can make sense for a community that hoards dozens of custom map and skin packs or keeps very long log files. Gold and above are more than one MOHAA server will ever need. The real performance difference comes from location rather than raw power: a server in Istanbul means low latency for players connecting from Türkiye, which is a tangible edge with MOHAA's one-shot rifles.
The heart of a MOHAA server is server.cfg in the main folder, which runs when the server starts. sv_hostname sets the server name, sv_maxclients the player cap, g_gametype the mode, sv_maplist the rotation, and timelimit and fraglimit the match length and score limit. Values are written with the set command; the map list goes in quotes with maps separated by spaces.
For remote administration, give rconpassword a strong value. In the in-game console, enter the same password first, then use commands starting with rcon to change the map, kick players or tweak values like timelimit mid-match. You can also run those commands directly from the panel console, which is handy for helpers you would rather not hand the rcon password to.
Copy server.cfg before every edit. A single missing quote can break the map list and leave the server stuck on its first map. Automatic backups make recovering from that painless.
Over the years the MOHAA community has produced a huge number of custom maps, skin packs and game modes. Nearly all of it ships as .pk3 files that go into the server's main folder. Upload them with the panel's file manager or over SFTP, restart the server, and you can add the new maps to sv_maplist.
The catch is on the client side. Players need the same custom maps in their own game folder, or they run into connection problems when the map changes. The tidiest approach is bundling every .pk3 your server uses into one package and sharing it on Discord.
Lots of .pk3 files can also conflict with each other; when two packs replace the same file, which one wins depends on the file names, and the results can be surprising. Back up before adding a new pack and test packs one at a time so you can pinpoint the culprit quickly. Competitive communities that want a clean setup usually stick to the stock maps.
The most reliable way is a direct IP connection from the console. The MOHAA console may be disabled by default; players enable it by adding +set ui_console 1 to their shortcut target, then press ~ and type connect followed by the IP:port from your panel. MOHAA's default game port is 12203, but if your server was assigned a different port in the panel, use that one.
The game's original server browser depended on GameSpy, and when GameSpy shut down in 2014 that list stopped working. Community patches and alternative server lists partly fill the gap, but among clans the most common method is still sharing the IP on Discord.
If you set a password, players are asked for it when connecting. When someone cannot get in, check first that they run the same game version and then that they have your custom maps installed. If it still fails, send the connection lines from the panel console to our support team and we will look into it with you.
MOHAA is very light, so Bronze 4GB is plenty for one server. If you plan a big .pk3 archive, Silver 6GB is worth a look.
The server files install automatically and your server appears in gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net with its IP and port, ready to start.
Set sv_hostname, sv_maxclients, g_gametype, sv_maplist and rconpassword in the file manager, then restart the server.
Drop your .pk3 files into the main folder over SFTP, add the maps to sv_maplist and share the same files with your players.
Post the IP:port on Discord; players open the console and use connect, while you run the match over rcon.
