The tools a Mindustry server owner uses every day, from map rotation to wave control.
host, runwave, gameover, save, load, status and players run straight from the panel console, so you can start a map, skip ahead a wave or save a match in seconds.
shuffle picks from all, custom or built-in maps after each game over, and nextmap overrides the rotation when you want a specific map up next.
Server plugins are Java jars; drop them into config/mods and restart to add custom commands, anti-griefing rules or event logic to your server.
config sets name, port, MOTD, whitelist, autosave and votekick, while rules adds global rules that apply no matter which map is being played.
Ban by name, ID or IP, lift bans with unban or pardon votekicked players, cap the player count with playerlimit, and limit joins to a whitelist of player IDs.
Mindustry's server runs comfortably on modest memory; Ryzen 9 9950X core speed carries late-wave unit swarms, and NVMe storage speeds up map loads.
Mindustry server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at ₺240.00 ($6.00) a month and runs the official Mindustry dedicated server, server-release.jar, on a Ryzen 9 9950X in İstanbul. From the console you host any built-in or custom map in survival, attack, sandbox or PvP mode, rotate maps automatically, trigger waves and manage admins, bans and the whitelist. Custom .msav maps go into config/maps, and Java plugins into config/mods. Mindustry's server is light, so the entry plan with 4 GB covers most communities, and plans reach 32 GB for the rare server that needs more.
Mindustry blends factory building with tower defense: conveyor supply chains carry ammunition to your turrets while waves of enemies push in. The dedicated server is the game's headless Java build, and it can host maps in four modes. In survival you defend your base against enemy waves. In attack the goal is to destroy the enemy cores. In PvP, teams race each other with units and production. Sandbox gives unlimited resources for free building.
That flexibility suits very different communities: co-op servers playing survival on rotating maps, competitive PvP servers, sandbox servers where players build huge factories, or a small group of friends playing their own maps. Mindustry offers cross-platform multiplayer between desktop and mobile versions, so friends playing on a phone can join the same server.
If you have tried hosting from your own computer, the difference is that the server stays up after you close the game. Maps, game overs and waves keep rolling while you are away.
Most configuration happens through the config command in the console. config name sets the name shown in the server list, config port the connection port (6567 by default), and config motd the message shown to players on join. config whitelist switches the whitelist on, config autosave saves the map periodically, and config enableVotekick lets players vote someone out. config autoUpdate is only meant for bleeding-edge builds, so leave it off on release versions.
On our panel, the port, server name and the map to host are read from startup variables every time the server starts and passed to the console as commands. To change the name or the starting map permanently, update the Server Name and Map Name variables.
rules add lets you set global rules that apply whichever map is running, and rules remove takes them away again. playerlimit accepts off or a number. The server build is downloaded from Anuken's GitHub releases at install and can be pinned to a specific version with a variable. Players must run the same game build as the server.
The host command starts a map in the mode you want: host, the map name and, optionally, the mode. Leave out the mode and you get survival; leave out the map and a random one is picked. Build your custom maps in the in-game map editor, export them as .msav files, upload them to config/maps with the file manager or SFTP, and run reloadmaps so the server rescans the folder.
The shuffle command decides how the next map is picked after a game ends: none, all, custom or builtin. Choose custom if only your own maps should rotate. When you want a particular map queued for an event, nextmap overrides the rotation once.
During a match, runwave sends the next wave immediately and gameover forces the game to end. The save and load commands write the map's current state to a slot and restore it later, which is ideal for preserving a long survival match before the server restarts.
Mindustry server plugins are Java jars written against the game's API, with the main class declared in plugin.json. Put the compiled jar in config/mods and restart the server. Make sure the plugin supports your server's Mindustry version, since plugins may need updating after major version changes. Mods that add new content must be installed by players as well, whereas server-side plugins need nothing from them.
In the console, admin add followed by a player's name or ID grants admin rights, and admin remove takes them back. ban works by ID, name or IP; unban lifts a ban entirely, while pardon lets a votekicked player back in. kick is for a one-off removal.
For a closed community, turn on config whitelist and add player IDs with whitelist add. On public servers, enableVotekick and playerlimit help keep order even when no admin is online.
Very little. The Mindustry server is a lightweight Java process, and the vast majority of communities play comfortably on 4 GB. What raises the load is less the player count than what happens on the map: unit swarms in late waves, very large custom maps, long PvP matches and a big stack of plugins.
The game's simulation runs largely on a single main thread, so core speed matters more than core count. Every plan runs on the same Ryzen 9 9950X cores, which means even the smallest plan gets the same single-core performance.
Silver 6GB and Gold 8GB leave extra room for crowded PvP servers or plugin-heavy public servers. Platinum 10GB and above clearly exceed what a single Mindustry server really needs, and to be honest, Xtreme 32GB is unnecessary for this game. Maps, saves and logs take little disk space, and NVMe keeps map changes quick.
Players open Play, then Join Game, and use Add Server to enter your server's IP address and port. The default port is 6567 and uses both TCP and UDP; if your server was assigned a different port, share the address exactly as the panel shows it. Entering the numeric IPv4 address rather than a hostname is the most reliable way to add the server.
Everyone who connects has to run the same Mindustry build as the server. When Steam updates players' games and the server stays on the old version, they can't connect, so keep an eye on releases and reinstall the server with the new build when needed. Mobile and desktop players can meet on the same server.
The server is in İstanbul, so players in Türkiye get low latency, and those joining from Europe, the Middle East and the Caucasus generally get a good connection. In PvP, where unit commands need to land instantly, that proximity is especially noticeable.
The Mindustry server is light and Bronze 4GB suits most communities; if you plan a crowded PvP or plugin-heavy server, look at Silver or Gold.
After payment, server-release.jar is downloaded from the GitHub releases automatically, and the console, files and backups are managed at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net.
Fill in the Server Name and Map Name variables in the panel; the server uses that name and hosts the chosen map automatically on every start.
Use config motd, config autosave, config enableVotekick and, if needed, config whitelist in the console to shape the server for your community.
Upload .msav maps to config/maps and Java plugins to config/mods over SFTP, then run reloadmaps or restart the server.
Grant yourself admin with admin add in the console, then send players the IP address and port for Add Server on the Join Game screen.
