Why TheCrewHost for Factorio?

What matters when a factory has to run around the clock for a whole team, not just while the host is online.

Fast Cores for Stable UPS

Factorio simulates the entire map in a mostly single-threaded update loop, so per-core speed on the Ryzen 9 9950X is what keeps a growing base at 60 UPS.

Full Config File Access

Edit server-settings.json, map-gen-settings.json and map-settings.json in the file manager or over SFTP; name, slots, password and autosave come from panel variables.

Mods and Space Age

Drop mod zips into the mods folder and switch them on in mod-list.json. Space Age, Quality and Elevated Rails already ship inside the headless download.

NVMe for Big Autosaves

Late-game saves get large, and every autosave briefly freezes the game for everyone; NVMe storage shortens that pause and writes rotating autosave slots quickly.

Protected UDP Game Port

Factorio talks over UDP on port 34197 by default; free DDoS protection filters attack traffic before it reaches your game port, so a flood doesn't drop the whole team.

Round-the-Clock Turkish Support

Fighting a desync, a mod mismatch or a token error? Our Turkish-speaking team is reachable any hour by ticket, Discord, WhatsApp, phone or live chat.

Factorio server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at ₺240.00 ($6.00) per month and gives you the official Linux headless server on an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X with DDR5 RAM and NVMe storage in İstanbul. You get full access to server-settings.json, map-gen-settings.json and the mods folder, so you decide how the world generates, who can join and which mod portal mods load. The headless download ships with Space Age content, so an expansion run needs nothing extra on the server side. Because the game's update loop leans on one fast core, clock speed matters more than core count here, and every plan from 4 GB to 32 GB runs on the same high-clocked cores.

What do you get with a TheCrewHost Factorio server?

You get Wube's official headless server: the same Factorio build your players run, minus the graphics, online around the clock so the team can log in whenever it suits them. Your game lives in the saves folder and loads on every start. The Factorio version is chosen with a variable at install time, whether that is the latest stable release, the experimental branch or a specific build number your mods need.

One server can host a pure vanilla 2.0 run, a Space Age campaign across planets, or a modded world built from mod portal packs. You can upload an existing single-player save as a .zip and continue it in multiplayer, or let the server generate a brand-new map.

We also list three related options. Factorio-ModUpdate is this server plus a script that refreshes your mods on reinstall, Factorio ARM64 is a template made for ARM hardware, and Clusterio links several Factorio servers into one cluster. If what you want is a solid multiplayer factory, this standard page is the one to order.

How much RAM and CPU does a Factorio server need?

For most groups, CPU speed decides how big the factory can grow and RAM decides how many mods and planets fit. Factorio targets 60 updates per second (UPS), and the bulk of each update runs on one thread, so a single fast Ryzen 9 9950X core does more for a megabase than extra cores do. That is why going from 4 to 12 vCores on the higher plans barely moves UPS.

Memory grows with explored map area, entity count, Space Age surfaces and the size of your mod list. A fresh vanilla map is light and sits comfortably in 4 GB; a late-game base spread over several planets, or a list of a few dozen mods, is where 8 GB and above starts to make sense. Big overhaul packs are the main reason to go past 12 GB.

One honest caveat: Factorio multiplayer is deterministic, which means every connected player's computer simulates the whole map as well. If a teammate's PC cannot sustain the map's UPS, that player will struggle no matter how fast the server is. Server hardware sets the ceiling, and players' machines need to reach it too.

Which files control a Factorio dedicated server?

Three JSON files in the data folder do most of the work. server-settings.json holds visibility (public or LAN), the game password, user verification, who may use commands, autosave behavior and whether the game pauses while nobody is online. Server name, description, max players, factorio.com username and token, autosave interval and slots, AFK kick time and game password are managed through the panel's startup variables and written into server-settings.json on every start. Change those in the panel; a manual edit to the same keys gets overwritten on the next boot.

map-gen-settings.json and map-settings.json only matter when a new map is created. Ore frequency, size and richness, cliffs, water, the starting area, enemy bases, pollution, evolution, biter expansion and the map seed all live in these two files. On the standard template, if the save named in the Save Name variable does not exist, the next start generates a fresh map from them. Tune the settings first, then back up and rename or remove the old save.

How do mods and Space Age work on the server?

Mods sit in the mods folder as .zip files, and mod-list.json decides which ones load. Upload them through the file manager or SFTP, mark them enabled, restart, and read the console for dependency errors. The server and every player must run exactly the same mods at the same versions, but you rarely need to pass files around: when someone joins with a missing or outdated mod, Factorio offers to fetch the matching versions from the mod portal. Mods that are not on the portal still have to be shared by hand.

Space Age is part of the headless download. Its three built-in mods, space-age, quality and elevated-rails, are switched on or off in mod-list.json like any other mod. With Space Age enabled, everyone who joins must own the expansion; a group where only some have bought it can disable those entries and play the base 2.0 game together.

Swapping mods partway through a save can trigger migrations or remove entities from the map, so back up before every change. If your list is long and updates often, the Factorio-ModUpdate variant takes the manual downloading off your hands.

How do you handle admins, saves and UPS day to day?

Start by promoting yourself: type /promote followed by your Factorio username in the panel console, and the server records it in server-adminlist.json. Admins handle players with /kick, /ban and /unban, while the allow_commands setting limits what everyone else can run. For a private group, a game password combined with require_user_verification, which requires a valid factorio.com account, keeps strangers out.

Before you stop or reinstall the server, run /server-save so the latest state is on disk; the panel's automatic backups keep a copy that is separate from the in-game autosave slots.

As a base grows, every autosave holds the game for everyone while the file is written. A longer autosave interval helps, and so can the experimental non_blocking_saving option, which forks the process on Linux to save in the background; try that one on a backed-up copy first. When UPS starts to slide, the fix is usually inside the factory: fewer active entities through beacons and modules, trains instead of very long belts, and keeping pollution under control.

How do players join your Factorio server?

Players open Multiplayer, pick Connect to address and enter your server's IP and port. Factorio uses UDP port 34197 by default, but your server may be assigned a different one, so copy the exact address shown in the panel.

To show up in the public server browser, set visibility to public in server-settings.json and enter your factorio.com username plus the token from your factorio.com profile in the panel variables. Everyone who connects needs the same Factorio version as the server. Steam updates players' games on its own, so update the server when a new release lands; on the standard template the version is downloaded on reinstall according to the Factorio Version variable, so take a backup first.

The datacenter is in İstanbul, so players in Türkiye connect with low latency, and friends in Europe, the Middle East and the Caucasus generally get a good connection as well.

How to Set Up a Factorio Server

  1. 1

Choose a plan for the size of your factory

Bronze 4GB carries a fresh vanilla or Space Age start for a small team; long modded runs and multi-planet bases belong on Gold 8GB or above.

  2. 2

Complete payment and let the headless server install

Once payment clears, the latest stable Factorio headless build is downloaded and prepared automatically, and you manage console, files and backups at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net.

  3. 3

    Fill in the startup variables

Set server name, description, max slots, game password, autosave interval and AFK kick; add your factorio.com username and token if you want a public listing.

  4. 4

Upload your save or shape a new map

Put an existing save in the saves folder under the Save Name variable's name, or edit map-gen-settings.json and map-settings.json before the first map is generated.

  5. 5

Add mods and switch Space Age on or off

Upload mod zips to the mods folder over SFTP, adjust the entries in mod-list.json, then restart and check the console for missing dependency warnings.

  6. 6

Start, promote yourself and invite the team

Start the server, run /promote with your username in the console, and send friends the IP and port for the Connect to address screen.

Frequently Asked Questions

What people ask most when they launch a Factorio server and keep a factory alive for months.

How much does Factorio server hosting cost?
Factorio server hosting starts at $6.00 (₺240.00) a month on Bronze 4GB. There are 7 plans from 4 GB to 32 GB, all on the same Ryzen 9 9950X cores; higher tiers add memory, vCores and disk rather than clock speed. Since Factorio's UPS depends mostly on one core, that distinction helps you avoid paying for capacity the game won't use.
How much RAM does a Factorio server need?
A new vanilla or Space Age map for a handful of players runs fine on 4 GB. Aim for 8 GB once you have several planets, a long-running late-game base or a few dozen mods, and 12–16 GB for large overhaul packs. A single Factorio save that genuinely needs 32 GB is rare.
Do all players need Space Age?
Only if it's enabled on the server. The headless server includes Space Age content for free, but while the expansion is active in mod-list.json, everyone who connects must own it. If someone in your group hasn't bought it, disable the space-age, quality and elevated-rails entries and play the base 2.0 game together.
Can I install mods from the mod portal?
Yes. Upload the mod zips to the mods folder through the file manager or SFTP, enable them in mod-list.json and restart. When players connect, Factorio offers to download any mods they're missing from the mod portal. If your list changes often, look at the Factorio-ModUpdate variant, which refreshes mods automatically when you reinstall.
How quickly is a Factorio server ready?
Setup starts automatically as soon as payment is confirmed: the headless build downloads, default settings files are created and a first map is prepared. When the install finishes, the server is ready to start. Most of your time goes into the decisions that are yours to make, such as map settings, the mod list and who gets admin.
How do my friends connect?
In Factorio they open Multiplayer, choose Connect to address and enter the IP and port from your panel. If you set visibility to public and added a factorio.com username and token, the server also shows up in the public list. Share the game password if you set one, and make sure everyone runs the server's Factorio version.
Will a more powerful server fix UPS drops?
Partly. The server's single-core speed decides how large the map can grow, and the Ryzen 9 9950X is strong there. But because Factorio is deterministic, each player's PC also simulates the whole map, so a weak machine slows that player down regardless. Cutting entity count in the factory often helps more than a bigger plan.
Does the factory keep running when everyone logs off?
Not by default. With auto_pause on in server-settings.json, the game stops when the server empties, so nothing is produced and biters don't attack while you're away. Set auto_pause to false if you want production to continue overnight, but remember that pollution and enemy evolution keep ticking too, so build your defenses with that in mind.
How are my Factorio saves backed up?
There are two layers. The game writes rotating autosave slots at the interval you choose, and our panel takes automatic backups independently of that. Before adding mods, changing version or generating a new map, run /server-save and make a manual backup as well. Any backup can be downloaded to your own computer over SFTP.
Is my factory protected from DDoS, and can I move to a bigger plan?
Yes, every Factorio plan includes free DDoS protection that filters the game's UDP traffic at the network level. When you move on to new Space Age planets or your mod list grows, you can switch to a higher plan at any time, and your saves, mods folder and settings files stay exactly where they are.
