Features chosen around what the Astroneer dedicated server software actually needs.
Edit ServerName, ServerPassword, OwnerName, MaxPlayerCount and save intervals in the file manager; just stop the server first, because edits made while it runs are discarded.
Upload your .savegame file to the SaveGames folder and point ActiveSaveFileDescriptiveName at it, turning the base you have grown for months into a shared world.
Lock the door with ServerPassword, then set DenyUnlistedPlayers so only players you have approved can join.
MaxServerFramerate sets the tick ceiling during play and MaxServerIdleFramerate throttles an empty server, so it does not burn CPU while nobody is online.
Bases packed with Auto Arms, storage, rail networks and loose resources lean on single-thread speed, which is where the Ryzen 9 9950X shines.

Astroneer dedicated server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at ₺345.00 ($8.63) per month, with 6 plans from 6 GB to 32 GB on Ryzen 9 9950X CPUs, DDR5 memory and NVMe SSDs. Your server runs System Era's official Astroneer Dedicated Server software, and you get direct access to AstroServerSettings.ini and Engine.ini, room for the full eight-player cap, and the option to upload your own single-player save. The hardware is in İstanbul, so a crew in Türkiye explores and builds with low latency. Large automated bases put real pressure on the server during autosaves, and you can move to a bigger plan whenever your base outgrows the current one.
An Astroneer dedicated server is the official server software that keeps a shared world online without relying on one player's PC. In a normal co-op session the world lives on the host's machine and everyone drops when they quit. On a dedicated server your crew logs in whenever they like and keeps researching, gathering and expanding the base.
The game is about exploring planets in a small solar system, carving and reshaping terrain with the terrain tool, and building bases out of modules. By the late game you are automating resource flow with Auto Arms, storage and rail carts. The server tracks all of it: every tunnel dug, every platform placed and every item lying on the ground.
The official software supports a maximum of eight players at once. That cap matters when choosing a plan, because in Astroneer the load comes mostly from base size and object count rather than headcount. Our servers are aimed at PC players; whether console friends can join depends on platform rules, so ask us before you buy if that matters.
We recommend 6 GB as the floor for Astroneer, and Gold 8GB is the more comfortable choice for a full eight-player crew with bases spread across several planets. Memory grows with the number of objects in the save more than with players: every platform, module, tether, vehicle and especially scattered resource nuggets adds to what the server tracks.
The most common complaint on busy servers is a brief freeze during autosave. Disk speed helps here, since the save is written to NVMe SSD and those pauses stay shorter. Every plan runs on the same Ryzen 9 9950X, with 4 vCores from Silver to Diamond, 6 on Emerald and 12 on Xtreme.
Because of the eight-player cap, Emerald and Xtreme are more than most groups will ever use. Unless you are importing a huge save that has been growing for years, Gold or Platinum covers nearly every scenario, and you can still upgrade later without losing progress.
Astroneer server settings live in two files inside Astro/Saved/Config/WindowsServer. As the official documentation stresses, changes made while the server is running are not saved, so always stop the server before you edit.
In Engine.ini, the Port line under the [URL] section sets the UDP port players connect to. It must match the port assigned to your server, so leave it alone unless you know why you are changing it. In AstroServerSettings.ini, PublicIP has to match the server's public address; a wrong value is the single most common reason players cannot connect.
Other keys worth knowing: ServerName is what appears in the list, ServerPassword gates entry, and OwnerName is the owner's Steam name. MaxPlayerCount tops out at 8. AutoSaveGameInterval and BackupSaveGamesInterval are in seconds and control how often the game autosaves and writes its own backup copy. PlayerActivityTimeout kicks idle players after a set time, and 0 disables it.
Yes. A single-player or co-op save can run on the dedicated server as long as the file sits in the right folder with the right name. Saves live in Astro/Saved/SaveGames with a .savegame extension.
Here is the process. Stop the server. Upload the save from your PC to the SaveGames folder over SFTP or the file manager. Make sure the file name follows the SAVENAME$YYYY.MM.DD-HH.MM.SS.savegame pattern, because the timestamp is how the server orders saves. Then set ActiveSaveFileDescriptiveName in AstroServerSettings.ini to the save name without the extension, and start the server.
Before switching to a different save or installing a major game update, back up the current world. The panel's automatic backups run independently of the game's own backup copies, so even if a save gets corrupted you can roll back to an earlier day.
Players add your server by IP address and port in the dedicated server section of Astroneer's main menu; both values are shown in your panel. If you set ServerPassword, they are asked for it on the first connection.
To make sure the owner role lands on you, put your Steam name in the OwnerName line. When you want the server closed to outsiders, set DenyUnlistedPlayers to True; in this whitelist mode only players on the approved list can join, and as owner you manage that list from the in-game admin panel. Make sure your whole crew is on the list before you switch it on.
With the server in İstanbul, players in Türkiye connect with low latency, and friends across Europe, the Middle East and the Caucasus usually get a solid connection as well. If someone cannot get in, check that their game is up to date first, then confirm PublicIP and the port match what the panel shows. If it still fails, our support team will go through the config with you.
Silver 6GB handles a fresh start for 2 to 4 players; for a full eight-player crew or an imported save, go with Gold 8GB or higher.
After payment, the official Astroneer Dedicated Server files install automatically and you manage everything at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net.
Set ServerName, ServerPassword, OwnerName and MaxPlayerCount in AstroServerSettings.ini, and confirm PublicIP and the Engine.ini port match your panel details.
Upload a correctly named .savegame file over SFTP and enter its name in ActiveSaveFileDescriptiveName; leave it blank and the server starts a new world.
Start it from the panel, confirm the console shows no errors, then send friends the address, port and password to add in the dedicated server menu.
Add your crew to the approved list from the in-game admin panel, then set DenyUnlistedPlayers to True so nobody else can join.
