What a DarkMultiPlayer server adds to your space program, and the settings you'll actually use.
Game mode, difficulty, warp mode, whitelist, max players, MOTD, cheats and the safety bubble radius are plain lines in Config/Settings.txt; a restart applies them.
Choose SUBSPACE, SUBSPACE_SIMPLE, MCW_FORCE, MCW_VOTE, MCW_LOWEST or NONE to decide whether players warp independently or share one clock.
The mod control file decides which mods and parts players may use; with modpackMode set to CKAN or GAMEDATA, DMP clients can download the server's modpack.
/dekessler clears orbital debris and runs every 30 minutes by default through autoDekessler, while /nukeksc clears vessels around the Space Center on demand or on a timer.
The server is DMPServer.exe, a .NET program run under Mono; it stores vessels and relays updates instead of simulating physics, so its memory needs stay modest.

KSP DMP server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at ₺240.00 ($6.00) a month and runs DarkMultiPlayer, the multiplayer mod server for the original Kerbal Space Program, on a Ryzen 9 9950X in İstanbul. DMP's defining trait is that every player keeps their own science, funds and tech tree while flying in one shared universe, and its warp system offers six modes, from free subspace warping to a majority vote. Settings.txt, the mod control file and the Universe folder are all yours to edit, and DMP can even offer a CKAN or GameData modpack to connecting players. Plans run from 4 GB to 32 GB, and a DMP server rarely needs more than the smallest.
DarkMultiPlayer (DMP) is a mod that adds multiplayer to the original Kerbal Space Program, and this server is its other half: a small .NET program that stores the shared universe and passes vessel, Kerbal and flag updates between players. Everyone installs the DMP client mod in KSP and connects to your server.
We also host Luna Multiplayer (LMP), and the two differ in ways that matter. In DMP, every player keeps their own scenario, meaning their own science points, funds and tech tree, even though all vessels fly in one Kerbol system. LMP instead runs a single shared scenario for the whole server. DMP offers six warp modes, including master-controlled warp where the group moves on one clock; LMP supports subspace warping or none. LMP adds vessel interpolation, UDP networking through Lidgren and an in-game server list on top.
Choose DMP if your group wants separate careers racing each other, prefers voted or single-controller warp, or already has a DMP universe. Choose LMP for one joint space program with smoother vessel sync; LMP even documents a converter for bringing a DMP universe across.
Config/Settings.txt holds the server's main options as plain key and value lines. port defaults to 6702. gameMode takes SANDBOX, SCIENCE or CAREER, and gameDifficulty takes EASY, NORMAL, MODERATE, HARD or CUSTOM; with CUSTOM, the detailed rules live in Config/GameplaySettings.txt. whitelisted switches the whitelist on, maxPlayers defaults to 20, and serverName and serverMotd set how the server greets people.
A few settings deserve a closer look. cheats is on by default, so switch it off if players shouldn't use the in-game cheat menu. safetyBubbleDistance, 100 meters by default, stops vessels from interacting with each other around the launch pad. autoDekessler runs debris cleanup every 30 minutes unless you change it, and autoNuke can do the same job for the Space Center. screenshotsPerPlayer caps how many screenshots each player can share, which keeps that folder from growing without limit.
On our panel, port, modpack mode, warp mode, game mode, difficulty, whitelist and server name are also set through startup variables and written into the file at start. Change those in the panel, edit everything else directly, then restart.
Warp mode is the biggest decision on a DMP server, because it decides how a player who wants to fast-forward coexists with one who is halfway through a burn. In SUBSPACE, the default, anyone can warp freely and moves into their own timeline; others can later sync up to the furthest-ahead subspace. SUBSPACE_SIMPLE narrows that down: players lock into the most advanced subspace, and only the player in the furthest-progressed subspace can warp.
The MCW modes, short for master-controlled warp, keep everyone on one clock. In MCW_FORCE, one player requests control and the rest follow their warp rate. MCW_VOTE puts that request to a vote and needs majority approval. In MCW_LOWEST, each player states the rate they want, and the whole server moves at the slowest one requested. NONE switches warping off entirely.
For a relaxed group flying separate missions, SUBSPACE causes the least friction. For planned sessions such as a joint Mun landing, MCW_VOTE keeps everyone together without handing the clock to one person. Whichever you pick, decide before the first session so nobody's timeline gets tangled.
DMP manages mods through a mod control file in the Config folder, named mod-control.txt on current builds, which lists the mods and parts players may use. modControl defaults to ENABLED_STOP_INVALID_PART_SYNC, which stops vessels carrying disallowed parts from syncing; ENABLED_STOP_INVALID_PART_LAUNCH blocks them at launch instead, and DISABLED turns checking off, something the developers only suggest for private servers. modpackMode goes a step further: set it to CKAN or GAMEDATA and DMP clients can download the server's modpack rather than hunting for each mod.
Administration happens in the console. /admin adds or removes an admin, /whitelist edits the list, /kick removes a player, and /ban, /banip and /bankey ban by name, IP address or player key. /pm sends a private message. /dekessler clears debris on the spot, and /nukeksc removes vessels around the Space Center.
The Universe folder is the server's entire state, with subfolders for Kerbals, Vessels, Crafts, Flags, Players and Scenarios. Back it up before every mod change, because removing a part mod can break vessels built from its parts.
Honestly, very little. The DMP server doesn't simulate physics; each player's game does that and sends updates, while the server stores vessels and relays messages. A group of friends runs comfortably on 4 GB, and even a busy public server rarely needs more. Larger plans only pay off if your Universe folder grows very large with vessels and shared screenshots. Compression is on by default, trading a bit of CPU for less bandwidth, and the Ryzen 9 9950X handles that without effort.
Players install the DMP client mod that matches your server version into KSP's GameData folder, launch the game and use the DMP window on the main menu. There they add your server's IP address and port, 6702 unless the panel shows a different one, choose a player name and connect. If the whitelist is on, add their names first.
The server is in İstanbul, so crews in Türkiye connect with low latency, and players across Europe, the Middle East and the Caucasus usually get a good connection as well.
DMP is light, and Bronze 4GB covers most groups; you only need more if the universe grows very large or you run a busy public server.
After payment, the latest DMP server release installs automatically and runs under Mono; you manage the console, files and backups at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net.
Use the panel variables to choose SANDBOX, SCIENCE or CAREER, a difficulty level and the warp mode that suits your group; edit GameplaySettings.txt for CUSTOM difficulty.
Prepare the mod control file for your mod list and upload it to the Config folder; set modpackMode to CKAN or GAMEDATA if you want to offer players a pack.
Make yourself and your crew admins with /admin in the console, and for a private server switch the whitelist on and add names with /whitelist.
Send players the DMP client version that matches the server plus your IP and port; they add the server in the DMP window on the main menu and connect.
