CPU power, full config access and in-game admin tools to keep Napoleonic battles with hundreds of players on their feet.
Hundreds of soldiers, projectiles and ships are synchronized on one server. The Ryzen 9 9950X's high clock speed helps keep the heaviest volleys of a line battle smooth.
server_name, server_admin_password, maximum_players and region settings live in one text file; copy the default and build your own configuration from it.
Each rotation block sets the map, game mode, round length, attacking and defending factions, and whether late arrivals may spawn mid-round.
After rc login in the F1 console you can kick and ban players, jump between rotation entries and broadcast messages to the whole server.
Spawn bots with rc carbonPlayers to try out new rotations, drill formations and server performance before real players arrive.
A server dropping in the middle of a regiment event ruins the evening for hundreds of players, which is why free DDoS protection and unlimited traffic come with every plan.
Holdfast: Nations At War server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at ₺240.00 per month ($6.00); the 4 GB Bronze plan is ideal for regiment drills and smaller events, and larger plans are ready for line battles with hundreds of soldiers. In Anvil Game Studios' Unity-based game, server settings live in a single serverconfig file: server name, admin password, player cap and !map_rotation blocks. Setup is automatic after payment, and in-game you open the F1 console and use rc login to take command. From Istanbul, the server gives regiments in Türkiye low ping while allied units across Europe join on a balanced connection.
A Holdfast: Nations At War server can rotate everything from land battles to naval engagements and host your regiment's drills as well as large line-battle events. Developed by Anvil Game Studios, the game brings Napoleonic-era warfare to multiplayer: line infantry advance shoulder to shoulder, officers give orders, cavalry charge the flanks and artillery fires from the high ground.
The server configuration includes land modes such as ArmyBattlefield, ArmyAssault and ArmySiege, naval modes like NavalBattlefield, and options such as CoastalSiege and Frontlines. Regiments are the backbone of the community: disciplined units drill regularly and meet other regiments in scheduled line battles on weekends. Owning the server means you set the rules, maps and times for those events. Public servers, by contrast, offer battles that cycle continuously with whoever joins, and a single server can easily be public during the day and an event server in the evening.
Player count and map type decide what a Holdfast server needs; 4 GB is enough for small drills, while a packed line battle calls for far more. The game allows battles of up to 150 players on a single server, and at that scale every soldier's movement, every musket ball and every cannonball is synchronized server-side. Most of that load falls on the CPU, which is why the Ryzen 9 9950X's single-core performance matters so much.
Our recommendation: Bronze for regiment drills, events of up to about 50 players and test servers; Silver for public servers that regularly hold 50 to 80, and Gold for battles of 80 to 120; Platinum or Diamond for line battles approaching 150. Naval and coastal maps are heavier than land maps because of ships, artillery and the larger play area, so step up a tier if they feature heavily in your rotation. Bots add load too, so remove any test bots before an event starts. The extra cores on Emerald and Xtreme do not bring proportional gains for a single Holdfast server.
Holdfast server settings start from a text file called serverconfig_default.txt. Because game updates can overwrite it, the official advice is to copy it under your own name, such as serverconfig_myregiment.txt, and point the server's startup settings at that file; if you are not sure how to do that in the panel, ask our support team. In the file, server_name sets the name in the server list, server_admin_password the remote console password, server_password an optional join password and server_welcome_message the greeting. maximum_players sets the player cap and server_region the region shown in the list; europe is a sensible choice for a server in Türkiye.
The rotation is built from blocks written between !map_rotation start and !map_rotation end lines. Each block defines the map with map_name, the mode with game_mode, round length with round_time_minutes, and the sides with faction_attacking and faction_defending. allow_midround_spawning decides whether latecomers can join the fight, and allow_faction_switching controls switching sides mid-round. Trimming the rotation to just that evening's scenario before an event avoids surprises.
Day-to-day administration in Holdfast happens inside the game through remote console commands prefixed with rc. The console is bound to F1 by default; type rc login followed by your server_admin_password to sign in. The password is case-sensitive, and you only need to log in once per session.
rc serverAdmin kick, ban and slay take a player ID and remove rule-breakers from the battlefield quickly. rc mapRotation jumps to a specific block in your rotation, which is invaluable when you are running an event by hand. rc broadcast sends a message to the whole server, such as the order to advance or the time of a break. rc carbonPlayers spawn adds bots, giving you a feel for a new map layout or server performance without gathering real players. rc set lets you change certain game variables on the fly. Give the admin password only to event officers, and make a habit of changing it after big events.
Players find your server by name in Holdfast's in-game server browser and join; password-protected servers ask for the server_password value. In the config, server_port carries game connections and steam_query_port lets the browser display player count and map, with a steam_communications_port setting alongside them. The defaults are 20100 for the game port and 27000 for the query port. Your server's assigned ports are shown in the panel, and the values in your config file need to match them.
At big events, everyone trying to join at once is natural. Announcing on Discord and staggering entry times across regiments by a few minutes eases the server's first moments. With server_intro_title and server_intro_body you can show event rules on the first screen everyone sees. From Istanbul, the server offers low ping to players in Türkiye and a balanced delay for regiments across Europe, the Middle East and the Caucasus, and that consistency is what lets a volley go off together.
The 4 GB Bronze plan handles drills and small events; choose Silver or Gold for busy public servers, and Platinum or higher for battles nearing 150 players.
The server is provisioned on its own after payment clears. Open the console in the panel and check that it boots without errors.
Copy serverconfig_default.txt under your own name, then fill in server_name, server_admin_password, maximum_players and server_region.
Define map, game mode, round length and factions in each block; for event nights, keep only the blocks for that scenario.
Open the F1 console and sign in with rc login and your admin password; use rc broadcast for announcements and rc mapRotation to switch maps.
Share the server name, password and muster time on Discord; players join from the in-game server browser.
