Built around the two config files you actually edit on a VEIN server, admin lists and the frequent Early Access patches.
Values such as vein.PvP, vein.Zombies.Health, vein.Scarcity.Difficulty and vein.Time.TimeMultiplier under [ConsoleVariables] make the world as gentle or brutal as your group wants.
Password, bPublic and AdminSteamIDs in Game.ini turn the server into a private hangout and define admins by their SteamID64.
Horde attacks, vehicle physics and large zombie groups load the CPU hard, and the Ryzen 9 9950X with DDR5 memory keeps the server responsive when it counts.
Download or upload the Saved/SaveGames folder over SFTP and keep a copy of your world on your own PC before an Early Access patch lands.
VEIN is in Early Access and patches arrive often; update the server from the panel to match your players' version, with an automatic backup already in place.
If a config line is not doing what you expect or the server will not start after a patch, reach us by ticket, Discord, WhatsApp, phone or live chat at any hour.
VEIN server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at $6.00 per month (₺240.00) and gives you a dedicated server that installs itself after payment and stays online 24/7. Built for the open-world zombie survival game that Ramjet Studios launched into Early Access in October 2025, your server runs on a Ryzen 9 9950X with NVMe SSD storage in İstanbul. Use Game.ini to set the server name, password, player cap and admins, and Engine.ini to control PvP, zombie health, horde frequency, loot scarcity and how fast time passes. Your base, vehicles and stockpiles stay put while you are offline, and friends can log in whenever they like and pick up where they stopped.
VEIN is an open-world zombie survival game about scavenging food, water, medicine and fuel in a collapsed world, looting abandoned buildings, building a base and getting vehicles running again. Much of its tension comes from persistence: the fortified base, the car you finally repaired and the supplies stacked in your crates need to be there the next time you log in.
A session hosted on a player's PC only exists while that player is in the game. On a dedicated server, friends can join on different schedules, one heading out on an evening supply run while another reinforces the walls late at night. Thanks to the game's time multiplier, the world keeps moving as long as the server is up.
Your own server also means your own rules. Decide whether you want a calm PvE survival run or a tense PvP world where other players are as dangerous as the dead. How tough zombies are, how often hordes roll in and how scarce loot is all come down to your settings.
A VEIN server relies on two main config files, both sitting in the familiar Unreal Engine Saved/Config layout. Game.ini defines the server itself. MaxPlayers under [/Script/Engine.GameSession] sets the player cap, while ServerName, Password and bPublic under [/Script/Vein.VeinGameSession] control the name, the password and whether the server shows up in the public list. Admins are defined in the same section through AdminSteamIDs and SuperAdminSteamIDs, one SteamID64 per entry.
Engine.ini carries the gameplay rules. Its [ConsoleVariables] section holds well over a hundred settings prefixed with vein.: vein.PvP enables player damage, vein.Zombies.Health and vein.Zombies.DamageMultiplier set how tough zombies are and how hard they hit, vein.AISpawner.Hordes.Enabled toggles hordes, vein.Scarcity.Difficulty controls loot scarcity and vein.BuildObjectDecay governs how structures wear down over time.
VEIN does not apply config changes while running. The reliable routine never changes: stop the server, edit the file, start it again.
VEIN's official server guide lists 8 GB of RAM as the minimum and notes that memory use rises with player count. That makes Gold 8GB the realistic starting point for a group of four to eight. Smaller plans will boot for quick tests and sessions with two or three players, but they struggle once big zombie groups and hordes kick in.
The main factors behind memory use are how widely players spread across the map, the number of active zombies and hordes, vehicles and the size of bases. When everyone roams the same area the load stays fairly low; when the group scatters to opposite corners, the server has to simulate more of the world at once.
For 12 to 16 players, 12 GB is the healthier choice, and communities above 16 running frequent hordes are better served by the 16 GB, 6-vCore Emerald plan. Single-core CPU speed matters too, and when AI and physics calculations pile up, the high clock speed of the Ryzen 9 9950X makes a difference.
To make yourself an admin, add your SteamID64 to the AdminSteamIDs entry in Game.ini, or to SuperAdminSteamIDs if you want broader permissions. For more than one admin, put each ID on its own line. The server only reads the admin list at startup, so always restart after a change. Admins can use the in-game admin menu to manage players, spawn items and change the weather.
To keep the server to your friends, set a password in the Password entry, and turn off bPublic if you do not want it listed publicly.
Because VEIN is in Early Access, patches arrive often and the server must run the same version as your players. When players pick up a new build from Steam, update the server from the panel as well. Backing up Saved/SaveGames before each update is a good habit, since Early Access patches can occasionally change how saves work, and you want a way back ready.
When the server starts stuttering, look at horde settings first. vein.AISpawner.Hordes.ChancePerMinute sets the per-minute chance of a horde spawning, and on a busy server a high value can mean several large zombie groups being simulated at the same time. Balancing it as your group grows keeps things smooth without watering down the challenge.
The time multiplier is a more indirect factor. vein.Time.TimeMultiplier sets how fast in-game time runs compared with real time, and even at the default an in-game day passes far quicker than a real one. Raising it speeds up the day and night cycle and shortens the time players have to prepare; it shapes the pace of play more than server load.
On long-running servers, vein.BuildObjectDecay lets abandoned structures wear down over time and stops needless objects from piling up in the world, which makes it worth keeping on for public servers. Finally, a scheduled restart once a day is the simplest way to clear out load that builds up over long sessions.
With 8 GB listed as the official minimum, groups of four to eight should start on Gold 8GB, while bigger communities should look at Diamond or Emerald.
Once payment is confirmed, the VEIN server files install and appear at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net; the first boot generates the config files.
Stop the server, fill in ServerName, Password, bPublic and MaxPlayers, and add your own SteamID64 to AdminSteamIDs.
Under [ConsoleVariables], set PvP, zombie health, horde frequency and scarcity to suit your group, then restart the server.
Players can find the server by name in the in-game server list or connect directly with the IP:port shown in your panel, entering the password if one is set.
