Why TheCrewHost for Conan Exiles Enhanced?

What makes the difference on a Conan server that has moved from UE4 to the new engine.

Two regions, one map

The Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah are now regions of the same map; your server hosts both at once and players cross over without switching characters. Siptah still requires the expansion.

Iris networking layer

Update 2.2.0 replaced the old UE4 networking model with Iris. Instead of reprocessing every object for every player, the server now sends updates only when they are needed.

UE4 game.db conversion

An Exiled Lands game.db from the UE4 era is readable by Enhanced and gets converted into separate Enhanced save files on first run. The conversion is one-way, so you keep the UE4 copy.

Recooked mods

UE4 mods do not load on the new engine; their authors have to upgrade and repackage them with the refreshed Mod Dev Kit. The 2.2.0 engine upgrade required a fresh recook of every mod too.

Settings new to Enhanced

New keys like CraftFromStorageRadius, BuildFromStorageRadius and BuildingReplicationDistance let you set the range for crafting from nearby storage and how far away buildings replicate to players, right in ServerSettings.ini.

Power for the UE5 workload

A merged map and a new engine put a different kind of load on CPU and memory than the old build did. Ryzen 9 9950X cores, DDR5 memory and plans up to Xtreme 32GB cover it.

Conan Exiles Enhanced server hosting on our Ryzen 9 9950X machines in Istanbul, Türkiye starts at $11.00 per month, with 8 GB to 32 GB of RAM and room to bring over an Exiled Lands world from the UE4 era. Enhanced is the Unreal Engine 5 version Funcom gave Steam owners for free on May 5, 2026, and it is what the public Steam branch ships today, so it is what your server runs. Update 2.2.0 on September 15, 2026 moved the game to Unreal Engine 5.8.2 and switched on the Iris networking system. Below: what changed since UE4, where mods stand, and how to migrate.

What is Conan Exiles Enhanced, and what changed for servers since UE4?

Conan Exiles Enhanced is the Unreal Engine 5 version Funcom built together with Inflexion Games and released free to every Steam owner on May 5, 2026. Players notice the rebuilt visuals and UI; for a server admin, the real changes happen behind the scenes.

The biggest is the map. On UE4 a server ran either the Exiled Lands or the Isle of Siptah; Enhanced merges both into one map. Separate Siptah servers are gone as a result, and anyone who wants to play on Siptah does so on an Exiled Lands server, reaching the island through special in-game NPCs.

Building changed too: players can craft and build straight from nearby chests and follower inventories, with the range set by the new CraftFromStorageRadius and BuildFromStorageRadius keys in ServerSettings.ini. The ServerCommunity and IsVACEnabled settings were removed, connections are now encrypted with the server password, and Steam Friends replaced the in-game friends list. Thanks to a May hotfix, servers upgrading from UE4 no longer need manual config edits to fix version compatibility.

The September 2026 update: what did Unreal Engine 5.8.2 and Iris change?

Update 2.2.0, released on September 15, 2026, upgraded the game to Unreal Engine 5.8.2 and replaced the old UE4 networking model with Iris, a replication system created by Epic. As Funcom explains it, Iris sends updates only when needed instead of reprocessing every replicated object for every client, which cuts the cost of running servers packed with players and placeables. The studio calls it the biggest server performance improvement it has made so far and says servers have seen roughly half the lag they had before; it also admits that building at huge scale still has limits.

Server owners felt other effects as well. The engine change forced a recook of all mods, and any mod its author has not rebuilt is flagged as out of date. On the plus side, the game now starts faster with large mod lists, and validating the mod set on connect is quicker.

The hotfixes that followed focused on servers. The September 17 patch fixed several server crashes, and hotfix 2.2.2 on September 24 fixed a boot crash on servers with stale files from before 2.2.0, plus login queues disconnecting players when the queue finished.

How do you move an old Exiled Lands server to Enhanced?

According to Funcom, Exiled Lands databases created on UE4 are readable by Enhanced, so your old server's game.db moves to the new version with its characters and structures. The file is converted into separate Enhanced save files the first time the server runs.

The order goes like this. First download the game.db from ConanSandbox/Saved on your old server and keep it somewhere safe. Then upload it over SFTP to the same location on your Enhanced server and start it up. The first boot may take a little longer with a large database, so log in and confirm your bases are in place before announcing the move to players.

The move is one-way. A database or character updated to UE5 cannot go back to UE4, which makes that untouched UE4 copy your only way back. Rebuild the mod list from scratch as well: Enhanced ignores UE4 mods and clears them out of modlist.txt once you change the active mods. Boot without mods first to see the world load cleanly, then add mods that have Enhanced versions one at a time.

What happens to an Isle of Siptah world and its characters?

Siptah follows different rules. When the island was merged into the Exiled Lands map its physical coordinates changed, so bases built on Siptah cannot carry over to Enhanced. A UE4 Siptah database (dlc_siptah.db) is not compatible across maps either, so an Enhanced server starts from a fresh or migrated Exiled Lands database.

The route Funcom describes for saving characters happens on the UE4 side, before the move: the server owner sets up a UE4 Exiled Lands world that allows character imports, and players use the Server Transfer Tool to bring their Siptah characters there. Level, progress, inventory and followers survive; buildings and items placed in the world do not, which is why dismantling bases and storing materials in follower inventories is recommended. That Exiled Lands database then moves to Enhanced.

Because we install Enhanced, this UE4 step has to be finished wherever your old server still runs. Once on Enhanced, players can head back to the island through special NPCs in the Exiled Lands and rebuild.

How do mods work in Conan Exiles Enhanced?

Enhanced fully supports mods, but a mod built for UE4 only works once its author has upgraded, recooked and repackaged it for the new version. Funcom refreshed the Mod Dev Kit for this, and several popular mods were ready on launch day. Since the June updates, older mods should no longer stop the game from launching; instead the game warns about mods it cannot load.

On the server, mods still go into ConanSandbox/Mods as .pak files and are ordered in modlist.txt. The 2.2.0 engine upgrade in September required every mod to be recooked because of serialization changes in the base engine, and a mod stays flagged as out of date until its author does so. After each major update, check the last-updated date on the mod's Workshop page.

A simple routine keeps the world safe: when a mod has not been updated, take it out of the list, back up the world, and add it back once the author publishes a rebuilt version. Adding one mod at a time and restarting between additions makes a broken mod easy to spot.

How much RAM does an Enhanced server need, and which plan?

The official minimum is 8 GB, so Gold 8GB works for Enhanced as well, and a small group on a fresh, unmodded world fits comfortably. What really drives memory is how big the world has grown and how much of both regions is in use at the same time.

With the merged map, the server can load both the Exiled Lands and Siptah. For servers that want to save memory, Funcom added an option in Engine.ini that stops a region, such as Siptah, from loading at all. A database migrated from UE4 after years of growth also brings a high baseline load from day one. Iris eased the CPU cost on crowded servers, but lots of buildings and thralls still push single-core speed.

Our recommendation for Conan Exiles Enhanced server hosting: Gold for up to eight players, Platinum for up to 16 or when both regions are busy, Diamond for a large migrated world or up to 25 players, Emerald 16GB for a public Enhanced server, and Xtreme 32GB for heavily modded communities beyond 40 players.

How to Set Up a Conan Exiles Enhanced Server

  1. 1

Size your plan to your world

Gold or Platinum suits a small group on a new world, Diamond a large database migrated from UE4, and Emerald 16GB or above a public Enhanced server.

  2. 2

    Let the Enhanced build install

When payment clears, the Enhanced build currently on the public Steam branch installs automatically, and the console, file manager and backups wait for you at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net.

  3. 3

Set aside a copy of your UE4 game.db

If you are bringing an Exiled Lands world, download game.db from your old server and keep an untouched copy; after conversion it is your only way back.

  4. 4

Upload the database and do a first boot

Put the file in ConanSandbox/Saved on the Enhanced server over SFTP, start the server without mods, and log in to check that bases and characters are in place.

  5. 5

Re-add mods using their Enhanced versions

Upload .pak files for mods rebuilt after 2.2.0, add them to modlist.txt one at a time, and confirm the server boots after each addition.

  6. 6

Remind players of the version, then open the gates

Players must launch the game as Enhanced on Steam; a client switched to Legacy cannot connect. They find you by name in the browser or connect directly with the IP and port from your panel.

Frequently Asked Questions

What people ask before moving to Conan Exiles Enhanced or opening a new Enhanced server.

What does a Conan Exiles Enhanced server cost per month?
The natural starting point for Enhanced is the Gold 8GB plan at $11.00 per month. You choose from 5 tiers, all with a Ryzen 9 9950X, DDR5 memory, NVMe storage and free DDoS protection. Tiers differ only in RAM, vCores and disk space, and current prices are on the order page.
How much RAM does an Enhanced server need?
The official minimum is 8 GB, and Gold 8GB covers up to eight players on a fresh, unmodded world. We suggest Platinum when both regions are busy, Diamond for a large world migrated from UE4, and at least Emerald 16GB for public servers. If your server does not use Siptah, the Engine.ini option Funcom added can skip loading that region to save memory.
What is the difference between Enhanced and Legacy?
Enhanced is the Unreal Engine 5 version: it merges the Exiled Lands and Siptah on one map and keeps receiving updates. Legacy is the old UE4 build, and on PC it gets no new updates, no official servers and no Bazaar. On the server side, Legacy sits only on the conan-exiles-legacy beta branch on Steam; we install Enhanced from the public branch.
Can I move my UE4 game.db to an Enhanced server?
For an Exiled Lands world, yes. Upload the old game.db to ConanSandbox/Saved and start the server; Enhanced reads it and converts it into its own save files, keeping characters and structures. The conversion is one-way, so store the UE4 copy separately. Siptah databases cannot be moved this way.
Will my Isle of Siptah bases carry over to Enhanced?
No. The island's coordinates changed when it joined the merged map, so Siptah bases cannot be preserved. Funcom's route for keeping characters is to move them, before the switch and on the UE4 side, into an Exiled Lands world with the Server Transfer Tool; level, inventory and followers come along, structures do not. Stashing valuable materials in follower inventories limits the loss.
Will my old UE4 mods work in Enhanced?
Not as-is. UE4 mods have to be upgraded, recooked and repackaged by their authors with the refreshed Mod Dev Kit, and Enhanced ignores the old versions. The 2.2.0 update in September required every mod to be recooked once more because of the engine change, so pick mods whose Workshop page shows a current version.
What did update 2.2.0 bring to my server?
2.2.0 moved the game to Unreal Engine 5.8.2 and turned on the Iris networking system. Because Iris sends players only the updates they need, it lightens the load on busy, heavily built servers; Funcom reports roughly half the lag. Hotfix 2.2.2 on September 24 then fixed a boot crash caused by stale files and a login queue bug.
How long does it take to set up an Enhanced server?
Installation starts automatically once payment is confirmed, and the Enhanced server files from the public Steam branch are downloaded. Then you start the server from the panel, review its settings and upload a UE4 world if you are bringing one. For a large game.db, upload and first conversion time depend on the file size.
How do players connect to an Enhanced server?
They launch the game as Enhanced on Steam and search your server name in the browser, or connect directly with the IP and port shown in your panel. Client and server versions must match, so a player who switched to Legacy cannot join. Enhanced launched on Steam only, so friends whose Epic or Microsoft Store copy stayed on UE4 cannot join either.
How do backups, DDoS protection and upgrades work?
Automatic backups and free DDoS protection are active on every plan, and you can take a manual backup from the panel whenever you like. On a version that changes as quickly as Enhanced, backing up before big game updates and before each new mod is your safest habit. Move up a plan any time as your world grows; your database, mods and settings stay put.
