Keep the island of Kelvin, Virginia and the cannibal tribes open for your crew of eight, even when the usual host has logged off.

Select from our wide range of optimized game servers. Each server is configured for maximum performance and comes with DDoS protection.

A Sons of the Forest server is for a small crew that sticks around, so the features are chosen for exactly that.
Rather than running the game on one player's PC, a dedicated server keeps the island up for everyone; whoever is free can log in and keep building.
Set GameMode to Normal, Hard, HardSurvival, Peaceful or Creative, or choose Custom and define enemy, animal, season and survival settings one by one.
Put one SteamID64 per line in ownerswhitelist.txt; those players can kick and ban from the players panel in the in-game pause menu.
SaveSlot picks the save, SaveMode chooses between continuing and starting fresh, and SaveInterval sets how many seconds pass between server saves.
IdleDayCycleSpeed controls how time flows with nobody online, while IdleTargetFramerate and ActiveTargetFramerate set the simulation rate when idle and when occupied.
A server listed publicly can become a target. Free DDoS protection filters malicious traffic so your crew's evening session is not cut short.
Sons of the Forest server hosting starts at $11.00 (₺440.00) per month and runs Endnight's official dedicated server to give your crew a persistent island. The game supports up to 8 players per server, so our entry plan, Gold 8GB, covers even a completely full lobby. You set the game mode, save slot, save interval and password in dedicatedserver.cfg, and list your admins' SteamIDs in ownerswhitelist.txt. You even decide whether time keeps moving while nobody is online. Hardware-wise it is a Ryzen 9 9950X with NVMe storage in İstanbul, which keeps the route short for crew members playing from Türkiye and nearby countries.
The usual way to play Sons of the Forest as a group is for one player to host the game on their own PC while the others join. The drawback is obvious: when the host is offline, nobody can get to the island. A dedicated server removes that dependency. The island stays up around the clock, your bases, loot and defenses are stored on the server, and whoever on the crew is free can jump in and keep playing.
With a ceiling of 8 players per server, these servers tend to belong to a closed friend group or a small Discord community. Add a password and the server stays open to your crew only.
Companions like Kelvin and Virginia, cannibal tribes, mutants, caves and the free-form building system all come with you into the multiplayer world. As the owner, you also decide how dangerous the island is, whether trees grow back and whether structures take damage. All of those settings live in a single configuration file.
Sons of the Forest server settings are stored in dedicatedserver.cfg, a JSON file. The basics are ServerName, Password and MaxPlayers, with MaxPlayers capped at 8. Leave the password empty and the server is open to anyone.
Three fields work together for saves. SaveSlot sets which save slot the server uses. With SaveMode set to Continue, the server resumes the game in that slot; with New, it starts a fresh one. SaveInterval sets how many seconds pass between saves, with 600 as the default. After starting a new game, remember to switch SaveMode back to Continue, or a later restart may start yet another new game.
GameMode can be Normal, Hard, HardSurvival, Peaceful, Creative or Custom. With Custom, the CustomGameModeSettings section lets you fine-tune enemy spawn rate, health, damage, armor and aggression, animal numbers, seasons, day length, precipitation and survival needs. The GameSettings section covers options such as tree regrowth and structure damage. Restart the server for changes to apply.
That is entirely up to you. IdleDayCycleSpeed sets how fast the day cycle advances when no players are connected and takes a value between 0 and 1. The default is 0, meaning time stops while nobody is online and the island is exactly as you left it when the crew returns. Raise the value and days keep passing on an empty server, which suits groups who want seasons to move closer to real time.
Two performance settings tie into this. IdleTargetFramerate is the simulation rate the server aims for while idle, defaulting to 5, which keeps an empty server from burning CPU for nothing. ActiveTargetFramerate is the target while players are connected, defaulting to 60.
For most groups the defaults are right. Raising ActiveTargetFramerate rarely brings a visible benefit, while lowering it can cause choppy enemy movement and sync issues. If you run into performance trouble, look at your save interval and structure count first and touch these values last.
The 8-player cap makes the choice simple. Gold 8GB handles a completely full lobby in a standard game, and for most crews it is the right plan.
If your island is covered in large structures, your save has been running for a long time, or you are working on huge builds in Creative mode, Platinum 10GB and Diamond 12GB give extra headroom. The extra memory in Emerald 16GB and Xtreme 32GB would mostly go unused on a single Sons of the Forest server, because the player ceiling never moves.
Cannibal and mutant AI plus physics lean on single-thread speed, which is exactly where the Ryzen 9 9950X's high clocks help. NVMe storage makes sure each save at your SaveInterval finishes quickly. If your needs change, upgrade at any time and your saves and settings stay intact.
Crew members open the join screen from the game's Multiplayer menu and search for your server name among dedicated servers. If you set a password, they type it in when connecting. A distinctive server name helps avoid confusion with similarly named servers in the same list.
The server uses three UDP ports to be reachable from outside: the game port (8766 by default), the query port (27016 by default) and the blob sync port (9700 by default). These are configured for you, so there is no port forwarding to deal with.
Admins are defined in ownerswhitelist.txt. Add one SteamID64 per line and restart the server. Players on that list can kick or ban troublemakers from the players panel in the in-game pause menu. Keeping the list short also keeps trust within the crew intact.
With the game capped at 8 players, Gold 8GB suits most crews; consider Platinum 10GB for very large builds or long-running saves.
After payment clears, Endnight's dedicated server files install on their own and your server shows up at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net.
Edit ServerName, Password, MaxPlayers and GameMode; set SaveMode to New for a fresh game and switch it back to Continue after the first start.
Add your SteamID64 and those of trusted crew members on separate lines, then restart the server.
Friends search your server name in the dedicated server list under the Multiplayer menu, enter the password and start surviving together.
The questions we hear most from crews who want their island online around the clock.
