Features chosen around Plains of Pain's dedicated server and its sprawling wasteland map.
configs/server.json, created from the configs/default.json template, holds the server name, password, player cap, world ID, world size, difficulty and seed.
Change the world ID and the server generates a new world. Adjust the seed and size too, and every season can start on a different stretch of wasteland.
The developer's guidance starts at 4 GB for 10 players and climbs to 32 GB for crowded servers. Pick whichever of the seven plans fits your community.
Vehicle physics, enemy AI and players scattered across a huge map all load the CPU. The Ryzen 9 9950X's high clock speed keeps it running smoothly.
Samsung 990 EVO Plus NVMe drives write the world save quickly, and automatic panel backups protect the settlement you have been growing for weeks.
PvP servers visible in the list can attract attacks from rival groups. Your game traffic flows behind free DDoS protection with nothing to set up.
Plains of Pain server hosting starts at ₺240.00 per month with 4 GB of RAM. Cobra Byte Digital's top-down post-apocalyptic survival game ships a dedicated server installed through SteamCMD that also runs on Linux, and every setting lives in configs/server.json. From server name and password to player cap, world size, difficulty from Tourist to Overlord and the seed, it is all set there. The developer's guidance puts 10 players at 4 GB, so small groups can start on Bronze 4GB. It runs from our İstanbul datacenter on Ryzen 9 9950X hardware with NVMe SSD storage.
Plains of Pain is a top-down survival game set in a procedurally generated wasteland where the sun is the deadliest threat. You fight thirst, hunger, heat stress and radiation, craft weapons and vehicles, build settlements and clash with other factions. The game has been in early access since February 2023 and receives regular updates.
It offers single-player, online co-op with friends, PvP on official or community servers, and LAN play. Your own server is the most flexible of these, because you set the rules. The PvE-first mode added in update 0.8.11 enables relaxed co-op without friendly fire, while the custom difficulty options from 0.8.13 give hardcore servers more control.
On official public servers, the developer typically refreshes the world every 60 to 90 days; characters and inventories survive, but vehicles, which are part of the world data, are reset. With Plains of Pain server hosting, you own that calendar: stay on one world for months or open a new season whenever you like.
The Plains of Pain dedicated server keeps its settings in configs/server.json, which is created from the configs/default.json template if it does not exist. Open and edit it in the panel's file manager or over SFTP. JSON is unforgiving about commas and quotes, so copying the file before you change it saves you from a server that refuses to start.
The core settings are the server name shown in the list, the join password, the player cap, world ID, world size, difficulty, map ID and seed. World size comes in five steps from small to extra-extra-large; bigger worlds offer more to explore but need more resources. Difficulty runs from Tourist, the gentlest, to Overlord, the most punishing.
The world ID deserves special attention: change it and the server creates a new world. The seed lets you get a different map at the same world size. Back up the current world before moving to a new season, so you can return if players miss the old map.
The developer's server guidance starts at 4 GB of RAM and 2 CPU cores for 10 players and scales up to 32 GB and 16 cores for a 200-player server. That scale is also why our plans begin at Bronze 4GB: for a small friend group it is the most cost-effective starting point.
World size matters as much as player count. Large and extra-large worlds mean more regions, more lootable areas and more enemies. Players spreading out to opposite corners of the map also widens the area the server keeps active at once.
Our recommendation: Bronze 4GB for up to 10 players, Silver 6GB for up to 20, Gold 8GB for up to 30. Communities of 30 to 50 are comfortable on Platinum 10GB or Diamond 12GB; at that level 4 vCores become the limit, so busier servers should move to Emerald 16GB with 6 vCores. For communities above 80 players on the largest world size, we recommend Xtreme 32GB.
Players open the multiplayer server list in Plains of Pain, find your server by name and join, entering the password if you set one. The query port is what makes the server show up in the list, while gameplay traffic runs over the game port.
A distinctive server name helps, especially in a list with plenty of community servers. Adding PvE or PvP, the difficulty level and a note that the server is Turkish-speaking to the name draws the right players.
If someone cannot connect, first check that their game version matches the server; with frequent early access updates, a version mismatch is the most common cause. In version 0.8.5 the developer also added a default port option to the game's settings to make connection troubleshooting easier. Our İstanbul location gives players in Türkiye low latency, and those joining from Europe and the Middle East generally get good connections too.
Updates arrive often in an early access game, and the server has to stay on the same version as its players. Taking a manual backup from the panel before each major update is the surest way to recover your world if something goes wrong in the new version. On top of that, the panel takes automatic backups of your server files.
Setting a wipe policy early keeps a community healthy. On PvP servers, moving to a fresh world at set intervals gives everyone an equal start, while PvE and co-op players usually prefer to stay on one world for a long time. In Plains of Pain, changing the world ID starts a new world, so a wipe does not even require deleting files.
One more tip: state your rules, wipe schedule and contact channel clearly in the server name or on your community's Discord. If you get stuck, our 24/7 Turkish-speaking support team is reachable through live chat, WhatsApp or phone.
Bronze 4GB covers up to 10 players, Silver 6GB up to 20, Gold 8GB up to 30. Look at higher tiers for large communities and huge worlds.
Once payment is confirmed, the Plains of Pain server files install automatically through SteamCMD. Log into gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net with your credentials.
Stop the server, then set the name, password, player cap, world size, difficulty and seed. Copy the file first so a JSON typo never costs you a working config.
On first launch the world is generated from your chosen size and seed. When the console shows the server is ready, invite your players.
Share the server name and password so friends can find it in the multiplayer list and join. After the first session, take a backup from the panel as your starting point.
