Why TheCrewHost for Night Of The Dead?

What it takes to get through the nightly hordes smoothly and keep your Night of the Dead fortress safe.

Control via ServerSettings.ini

Settings such as ServerName, Password, MaxPlayers, IngameAdminPassword and SaveName sit in ServerSettings.ini, so one file controls the server's identity and which world it loads.

CPU Headroom for Nightly Hordes

Every night a large pack of zombies marches on your walls while traps and guns calculate damage, and the Ryzen 9 9950X's single-thread speed absorbs that sudden spike.

Persistent Fortress and Trap Line

Your walls, traps and automation setups are stored on the server, so nothing disappears when a teammate logs off and everyone returns to the same defensive line.

World Saves on NVMe

Save files are kept under Saved/SaveGames; Samsung 990 EVO Plus NVMe drives cut save hitches, and automatic backups protect that folder.

DDoS Protection for PvP Servers

The game supports online PvP too, and on competitive servers free DDoS protection filters attack traffic so nobody drops mid-horde.

Round-the-Clock Support

Renting a Night of the Dead server at TheCrewHost costs $11.00 per month (₺440.00) on the Gold 8GB plan, and you get a dedicated server on a Ryzen 9 9950X with DDR5 memory and NVMe storage where your crew finds the same fortress every time they log in. Thanks to our İstanbul datacenter, players connecting from Türkiye and nearby regions can work their traps and weapons without lag once the nightly horde begins. The server name, password, player cap, admin password and world save all live in ServerSettings.ini, editable in a few minutes from the panel file manager. In a game that blends tower defense with survival, your fortress stays exactly where you left it.

Why rent a Night of the Dead server?

Night of the Dead, from Jackto Studios, is a zombie game that mixes exploration, crafting and survival with tower defense. The core loop is simple: gather resources during the day, reinforce your fortress, lay out traps and survive the horde that swarms you every night. It is far more fun as a team, with one player repairing walls while another extends the trap line.

A rented Night of the Dead server makes that fortress independent of any one player's PC. The world stays on the server even when the friend who usually hosts is offline, so whoever is free can log in and prepare, and when night falls everyone meets on the same defensive line.

Besides single player, the game supports online co-op and online PvP. On your own server you can build a relaxed co-op stronghold with friends or open a PvP server where rival groups face off. Either way, you decide the rules and who gets in.

How much RAM and CPU does Night of the Dead need?

We recommend 8 GB of RAM as the starting point, and a crew of two to four with a small or mid-sized fortress plays comfortably on Gold 8GB. What really drives load in this game is the nightly wave: once the horde starts, many zombies move at once, traps and weapons constantly calculate damage, and the server has to process all of it simultaneously.

As the fortress grows and the trap line gets longer, the number of objects the server tracks rises. Platinum 10GB suits groups of four to eight, while Diamond 12GB is the safer pick for groups of eight to twelve building large trap networks and automation setups. On crowded servers approaching 16 players, Emerald 16GB with 6 vCores handles the sudden load spikes of nightly waves with ease.

On the CPU side single-thread speed is what matters, because AI and damage calculations during a wave run mostly on a few threads, and the Ryzen 9 9950X keeps latency low there. For storage, the 70 GB and larger NVMe allocations are plenty for the server files and saves.

What do you configure in ServerSettings.ini?

The core settings of a Night of the Dead dedicated server live in ServerSettings.ini. ServerName is the name shown in the server list, Password the join password, MaxPlayers the player cap and IngameAdminPassword the in-game admin password. SaveName tells the server which world save to load; keep the same name and the fortress carries on, pick a new one and a fresh world begins.

The file also has a save interval setting that controls how often the world autosaves. Setting it too long means losing more progress after an unexpected shutdown, while setting it too short creates pointless disk writes.

Edit the file from the panel file manager or over SFTP. Stop the server before making changes, save the file and start it again, since edits made while it runs usually do not apply. The server uses separate game and query ports; on TheCrewHost the ports assigned to your server in the panel are what count, and you do not need to change them by hand. If you are not sure where a setting lives, just ask our support team.

Saves, backups and updates

Night of the Dead world saves are kept in the Saved/SaveGames directory of the server folder. Your fortress, traps and inventory all live in those files, which makes the save folder the most valuable part of the server. The automatic backups in TheCrewHost plans protect it regularly, and you can take a manual backup from the panel whenever you like.

We especially recommend a manual backup at three moments: before a game update, before switching to a new world with SaveName, and before a major rebuild of the fortress. If an update causes a save incompatibility or the new layout does not work out, restoring the backup brings everything back within minutes. Downloading backups to your own computer over SFTP gives you a second safety net.

When the game updates, the server has to move to the same version; with a version mismatch, players may see the server in the list and still fail to connect. After an update, check the console to confirm a clean startup, and reach out to support if anything looks off.

How do players join a Night of the Dead server?

Players reach the dedicated server list from the main menu by choosing START GAME, then MULTIPLAYER, then DEDICATED SERVER, and pick your server from there. The listed name comes from ServerName, so choose something distinctive your crew can find easily. With a Password in the settings file, players have to type it before they get in.

The server's IP and port are shown in the panel, and pinning them together with the password in your group's Discord makes things easier for new players. If the server does not appear in the list, first check the console to confirm startup finished, then make sure the query port is correct.

A small performance tip: gathering the whole crew at the fortress before a nightly wave cuts down on simultaneous activity in far-off parts of the map, which usually helps the wave run smoother. If your trap line has grown very large and waves start to stutter, moving up one plan is usually the quickest fix.

How to Set Up a Night Of The Dead Server

  1. 1

Pick a plan for your crew and fortress plans

Gold 8GB is enough for a crew of two to four; start on Platinum or Diamond if you plan large trap networks and a bigger roster.

  2. 2

Pay and let setup begin automatically

Once payment is confirmed, the Night of the Dead server files install automatically and your server appears in the gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net control panel.

  3. 3

    Edit ServerSettings.ini

Stop the server, open ServerSettings.ini and set ServerName, Password, MaxPlayers, IngameAdminPassword and SaveName.

  4. 4

Choose the save interval and world

Set the autosave interval to match how your crew plays, then use SaveName to continue an existing world or start a fresh fortress.

  5. 5

Start the server and point your crew to the list

Check the console for a clean startup, then share the server name and password; players join from the DEDICATED SERVER list under MULTIPLAYER.

Frequently Asked Questions

What people ask about pricing, hardware, the settings file and joining before renting a Night of the Dead server.

How much does a Night of the Dead server cost?
Night of the Dead pricing starts at $11.00 per month (₺440.00) on Gold 8GB, and you can choose from 5 plans. All of them use a Ryzen 9 9950X, DDR5 6000 MHz memory and NVMe SSD storage, and free DDoS protection, automatic backups and unmetered traffic are standard. The plans vary in RAM, vCores and disk space.
Which plan and how much RAM should I pick?
For a crew of two to four, 8 GB is enough. We suggest 10 GB for groups of four to eight, 12 GB for groups of eight to twelve with big trap networks, and 16 GB for crowded servers approaching 16 players. In Night of the Dead, the intensity of the nightly waves and the size of the fortress drive resource needs the most.
Where do I change the server settings?
The core settings are in ServerSettings.ini, where ServerName, Password, MaxPlayers, IngameAdminPassword and SaveName live. Stop the server in the panel, edit the file with the file manager or over SFTP, then save and restart. Changes made on a running server usually do not take effect.
How soon is my server ready?
Installation starts automatically once your payment is confirmed, with no manual step to wait for. When the server files are installed, the server shows up in the panel. Set the server name, password and player cap in ServerSettings.ini, start it, and your crew can join.
How do my friends join my server?
Your friends go to START GAME, then MULTIPLAYER, then DEDICATED SERVER from the main menu and select the name you set as ServerName. If you set a Password, they are asked for it on join. The server's IP and port are also shown in the panel.
Can I run a PvP server?
Yes. Alongside single player and co-op, Night of the Dead supports online PvP. You can open a PvP world where rival groups face off on your own server and set the player cap and password in ServerSettings.ini. On competitive servers, the free DDoS protection becomes especially valuable.
Will the server lag during nightly hordes?
With a plan sized to your crew and fortress, waves should run smoothly. Because many zombies move at once during nightly waves, server load spikes suddenly, and the Ryzen 9 9950X's single-thread power handles that. If your fortress and trap line have grown very large or your player count has gone up, moving to a higher plan brings the smoothness back.
Is my fortress backed up?
Yes. Our plans include automatic backups, and you can take a manual backup from the panel at any time. Night of the Dead keeps its saves in the Saved/SaveGames folder. We recommend a manual backup before game updates, before switching to a new SaveName and before rebuilding the fortress.
Does DDoS protection cost extra?
No, DDoS protection is included free on every Night of the Dead plan. Public and PvP servers face a higher risk of attacks, and the protection filters that traffic before it reaches your server. That way you will not lose your connection at the most critical moment of a nightly wave.
Can I upgrade my plan?
Yes, you can move to a higher plan at any time, and your fortress, saves and settings file stay in place. As the fortress grows and more players join, nightly waves need more resources, and upgrading is the most effective fix at that point. Just make the request from the customer area.
