Why TheCrewHost for Dead Matter?

Sized for Dead Matter's Unreal Engine server, with access to every setting from AI density to the admin list.

World Rules in Game.ini

Set ServerName, MaxPlayers, MOTD, PVP and bIsHardcore in Game.ini. This single file decides how brutal your server is going to be for everyone who joins.

Zombie, Animal and Bandit Caps

MaxZombieCount, MaxAnimalCount and MaxBanditCount control how crowded the map feels. Higher values raise the tension but also raise the load on the CPU.

Admins, SuperAdmins, Whitelist

Add staff by Steam64ID to the Admins and SuperAdmins lists. With WhitelistActive turned on, only players you have listed under Whitelist can get into the server.

Config and Save Backups

Server updates can reset config files, so backups of your ini files matter. Automatic backups plus manual ones from the panel protect both your settings and your world data.

Ryzen 9 for Unreal Servers

Pathfinding for hundreds of zombies and player movement lean on single-core speed. A Ryzen 9 9950X with DDR5 memory keeps the server responsive in crowded towns.

DDoS Protection and Support

Free DDoS protection filters attack traffic aimed at PvP servers. When you get stuck, support is available 24/7 via ticket, Discord, WhatsApp, phone or live chat.

Dead Matter server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at ₺440.00 ($11.00) per month, and the entry plan gives you a private Dead Matter dedicated server with 8 GB of DDR5 RAM, Ryzen 9 9950X cores and NVMe SSD storage. It runs the game's official dedicated server software, with every important setting in Game.ini and Engine.ini: server name, player cap, PvP, hardcore mode, how many zombies roam the map and which Steam64IDs get admin rights. Hosting in İstanbul keeps latency low for players in Türkiye. We also lay out the game's Early Access status plainly on this page, so you know exactly what you are signing up for.

What should you know before renting a Dead Matter server?

Before renting a Dead Matter server, you should know the game is still in Early Access and development has slowed considerably. Built by Quantum Integrity Software on Unreal Engine, it is an open-world zombie survival game set in the Kananaskis region of Alberta, Canada. The current build offers a playable slice of about 6x6 km, and the Steam store page itself notes that the developers have not posted an update in a long time.

We would rather say this openly than bury it, because setting the right expectations matters when you pay for a server. The upside is that the build has been stable for a long time, so the server configuration is settled and you are not fighting compatibility issues after a weekly patch.

With your own server, you can run a whitelisted PvE experience for your friends, a hardcore server with high zombie density or a classic PvP combat server. You decide the player count, the rules and who gets admin rights.

How much RAM does a Dead Matter server need?

For a small to mid-sized Dead Matter server, 8 GB of RAM is a good starting point, which is why our plans begin at Gold 8GB. On an Unreal Engine server, AI density drives memory and CPU needs as much as player count does. MaxZombieCount in Game.ini appears in sample configs at values as high as 2048, and once you add animals and bandits, the number of entities the server tracks at any moment climbs fast.

Once you pass twenty players or raise zombie density, Platinum 10GB or Diamond 12GB is a better balance. The 6 vCores on Emerald 16GB keep the server responsive during crowded town fights.

On Dead Matter servers that stay up for long stretches, memory use can creep up over time, which is why regular restarts are a common habit on community servers. The restart button in the panel makes this easy, and you can warn players ahead of time through the MOTD or Discord.

Which settings live in Game.ini and Engine.ini?

Dead Matter's server config files sit in the DeadMatter/Saved/Config/WindowsServer folder. Almost everything gameplay-related is in Game.ini, while Engine.ini mostly holds technical values such as networking and ports.

In Game.ini, ServerName sets the name in the server list, MaxPlayers the player cap and MOTD the message players see on joining. You can add a server password and set PVP to true or false to decide whether players can damage each other. bIsHardcore switches on a harsher survival ruleset, and finer tweaks such as the fall damage multiplier live in the same file.

On the AI side, MaxZombieCount, MaxAnimalCount and MaxBanditCount decide how crowded the map is. If your friends want a tense but smooth experience, lowering the zombie count a little eases the load on the server.

Stop the server from the panel before editing, since changes made while it is running can be overwritten on shutdown.

How are admins, whitelists and updates handled?

Admin rights in Dead Matter are granted through lists in Game.ini. Add your own Steam64ID with a +SuperAdmins= line to get the widest permissions, and define moderators with +Admins= lines. Each person needs a line of their own.

For a closed server, set WhitelistActive=true and add every player you want to allow with a +Whitelist= line using their Steam64ID. This is the cleanest protection for friend groups and small communities; even if the server shows up in the list, strangers cannot get in.

Server software updates have been reported to reset config files to their defaults. Keep a separate copy of Game.ini and Engine.ini, and if your settings vanish after an update, simply restore the file from that copy.

Dead Matter does not currently have official mod or Steam Workshop support; the developer lists it among its goals for the full release. For now, you shape your server through the ini settings rather than mods.

How do players connect to a Dead Matter server?

Players connect by finding your server by name in the in-game online server list, or by entering its IP address through the direct connect option. If you set a password, they need to enter it when joining. The address and port to use are shown in your panel.

With the whitelist enabled, only players whose Steam64ID you added can join a server that appears in the list; everyone else gets turned away. Before inviting someone new, ask for their Steam64ID, add it to Game.ini and restart the server.

Because the server is hosted in İstanbul, players in Türkiye enjoy low latency, and players from Europe, the Middle East and the Caucasus generally get a good connection as well. Put your Discord link and basic rules in the MOTD so newcomers know what to expect the moment they spawn.

How to Set Up a Dead Matter Server

  1. 1

Choose a plan for your group

Gold 8GB handles up to fifteen players with default AI values. For crowded PvP or higher zombie density, go with Platinum or Diamond.

  2. 2

Open the panel after automatic setup

Your Dead Matter server installs automatically once payment clears. Use gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net for the console, file manager and start and stop controls.

  3. 3

    Edit Game.ini

Stop the server and set ServerName, MaxPlayers, MOTD, PVP and the zombie count. Do not forget to add yourself to SuperAdmins with your Steam64ID.

  4. 4

Set up the whitelist and back up configs

For a closed server, enable WhitelistActive and add players. Then keep a separate copy of Game.ini and Engine.ini in case an update resets them.

  5. 5

Start the server and share the address

Launch the server, confirm it appears in the in-game list, and share the IP and any password in Discord. Players join from the list or via direct connect.

Frequently Asked Questions

What people ask about Dead Matter servers: pricing, Early Access status, settings, admins and connecting.

How much does Dead Matter server hosting cost?
Our smallest Dead Matter plan is Gold 8GB at ₺440.00 ($11.00) per month. It includes 8 GB of DDR5 RAM, 4 Ryzen 9 9950X vCores and 70 GB of NVMe SSD. There are 5 Dead Matter plans in total, with memory options ranging from 8 GB to 32 GB.
Which plan should I choose?
Gold 8GB is enough for up to fifteen players with the default zombie count. Platinum 10GB suits PvP servers with 15 to 25 players, and Diamond 12GB fits community servers approaching 36 slots. If you plan to push zombie and bandit counts much higher, look at Emerald 16GB with 6 vCores.
Is Dead Matter still being developed?
The game is in Early Access on Steam, and its store page notes that the developers have not released an update in a long time. The server software continues to work with the current build. We want you to decide with that in mind. If a new patch does ship, the server files will need updating to the same version before players can connect.
Can I install mods on my Dead Matter server?
Dead Matter has no official mod or Steam Workshop support at the moment; the developer lists it as a goal for the full release. You shape your server through Game.ini instead, using PvP, hardcore mode, zombie, animal and bandit counts, the player cap and the join message to build very different experiences.
How do I make myself an admin?
Add your Steam64ID to Game.ini with a +SuperAdmins= line, and use +Admins= lines for your moderators. Each person gets a separate line. For the change to apply, stop the server in the panel, save the file and start it again.
How soon will my server be ready?
Your Dead Matter server is set up automatically once payment is confirmed and is available at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net. Configure the basics in Game.ini, restart, and your players can start connecting without waiting in any manual setup queue.
How do players connect to the server?
Players can search for your server's name in the in-game online server list or enter the IP address through direct connect. If you set a password, they type it when joining. With the whitelist enabled, only players whose Steam64ID you added can get in.
Do you include backups and DDoS protection?
Yes, every plan includes automatic backups and free DDoS protection. Since server updates can reset config files, we suggest keeping an extra copy of Game.ini and Engine.ini. DDoS protection filters attack traffic before it reaches your server and prevents disruption on PvP servers.
Can I move to a bigger plan later?
Yes, switching to a larger Dead Matter plan is possible whenever you need it. That typically happens once you pass twenty players or raise AI values like MaxZombieCount. Back up your config files and world data before you switch.
