Why TheCrewHost for DayZ?

Hosting that understands DayZ's Central Economy, mod keys and BattlEye setup, ready for 60 slots and beyond.

Workshop Mods and Keys

Upload mod folders such as @CF or @Community-Online-Tools over SFTP and drop their .bikey files into the keys folder. With verifySignatures on, only properly signed mods are accepted.

Central Economy Control

Set nominal, min and lifetime values for every item in types.xml, and tune vehicle and helicopter crash events in events.xml. The loot economy is shaped entirely by you.

BattlEye RCon and Logs

Connect remote admin tools with the RCon password in BEServer_x64.cfg. .ADM logs track connections and kills, while .RPT logs show script errors.

Persistence and Backups

Bases, tents and stashes are saved in storage_1 inside the mission folder. Automatic backups let you restore persistence even after a mod update goes wrong.

Ryzen 9 for Server FPS

Zombie AI, vehicle physics and thousands of loot spawns determine server FPS. The high clock speed of the Ryzen 9 9950X reduces the risk of desync during peak hours.

DDoS Protection, 24/7 Help

Competitive PvP servers are frequent targets, and free DDoS protection filters that traffic. Support is available around the clock via ticket, Discord, WhatsApp, phone or live chat.

DayZ server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at ₺440.00 ($11.00) per month, and the entry plan gives you your own DayZ community server for the PC version with 8 GB of DDR5 RAM, Ryzen 9 9950X cores and 70 GB of NVMe SSD. You get full control over serverDZ.cfg, the Central Economy files in the mission folder such as types.xml and events.xml, and the keys folder, and you can upload Steam Workshop mods as @ folders over SFTP. The server runs in İstanbul, so players in Türkiye are not losing gunfights to latency, and players across Europe and the Middle East generally connect well too. Free DDoS protection and automatic backups are included with every plan.

What kind of DayZ server can you run?

Your own DayZ server can run anything from pure vanilla survival to a heavily modded roleplay community. The simplest setup is a hardcore first-person server on Chernarus with settings close to official. Livonia and Sakhal are also available as mission templates, although players need to own those DLCs to join.

Most community servers go further: trader servers with safe zones, mod packs that expand vehicles and base building, community maps such as Namalsk or Deer Isle, PvE-focused servers, or deathmatch servers built purely around combat. They all run on the same server software; the difference comes from the mods you load and the settings in the mission folder.

Persistence is central to DayZ. Bases players build, stashes they bury and vehicles they park survive restarts. When a season ends, you can reset the storage_1 folder for a clean wipe and keep the old world in a backup.

How much RAM does a DayZ server need?

For a vanilla or lightly modded DayZ server, 8 GB of RAM is a solid starting point, which is why our plans begin at Gold 8GB. Memory grows with the weight of the map and the mod list more than with player count. Combine a custom community map, a large trader mod and high loot values, and 12 GB or more quickly becomes necessary.

The real bottleneck in DayZ is usually server FPS. Zombie and animal AI, vehicle physics and the total item count in types.xml all load the CPU, and when server FPS drops, players see desync and delayed hits. That is where the high single-thread speed of the Ryzen 9 9950X pays off. The extra vCores on Emerald 16GB and Xtreme 32GB give busy modded servers more breathing room.

Most community servers restart every few hours. A restart refreshes loot and clears the memory that builds up on a long-running server, and you can warn players ahead of time with the message settings in the mission folder.

What do you change in serverDZ.cfg and the mission files?

The core identity of a DayZ server lives in serverDZ.cfg. hostname is the name in the server list, password is the join password, passwordAdmin is the admin password and maxPlayers is the slot count. disable3rdPerson forces first person and disableCrosshair removes the crosshair. serverTime, serverTimeAcceleration and serverNightTimeAcceleration control the day cycle, and communities that want short nights tweak these often. The template line under class Missions decides which map loads, for example dayzOffline.chernarusplus, or dayzOffline.enoch for Livonia.

The gameplay itself is tuned in the mission folder under mpmissions. db/types.xml holds each item's target count, minimum and how long it stays on the ground. events.xml manages spawns for vehicles, helicopter crashes and infected groups. cfggameplay.json, once enabled in serverDZ.cfg, unlocks settings such as stamina and building rules, while init.c defines the starting loadout of freshly spawned characters.

A single XML typo in these files can stop the server from starting, so back up before you edit.

How do you install Workshop mods on a DayZ server?

DayZ mods come from the Steam Workshop and are installed on the server as folders named @ModName. Subscribe to the mod on your own PC, then upload the folder to the server directory over SFTP. Copy the .bikey file from each mod's keys folder into the server's main keys folder; with verifySignatures enabled, players cannot join if a mod's key is missing.

Mods are loaded through the -mod= launch parameter, while server-side-only mods go into -serverMod=. Load order matters: dependencies such as Community Framework (@CF) must come before the mods that use them. If you need help editing the launch line, just ask our support team.

Community Online Tools and VPPAdminTools are the most widely used admin tools, letting you teleport players, spawn items and handle bans from inside the game. Whenever a mod author pushes an update, update the server copy too, or players will be blocked by a version mismatch.

How do players connect to a DayZ server?

Players connect by searching for your server's name in the DayZ Launcher server list or the in-game community tab. Direct connections by IP:port work too; DayZ's default game port is 2302, but the port assigned to your server is shown in the panel.

When a player joins a modded server through the launcher, any missing mods are downloaded from the Steam Workshop, which makes the launcher the easiest route for modded communities. To join a server running Livonia or Sakhal, players need to own the matching DLC.

These servers are for the PC (Steam) version of DayZ, and DayZ has no crossplay between PC and console. Adding language and style tags such as PvE or 1PP to your server name helps attract the right players from the list.

How to Set Up a DayZ Server

  1. 1

Pick a plan for your slots and mods

Gold 8GB covers a vanilla or lightly modded server. If you are planning a custom map and a large mod pack, start on Diamond or Emerald instead.

  2. 2

    Open the panel after setup

Your DayZ server is installed automatically once payment is confirmed. At gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net you get the console, file manager and start and stop controls.

  3. 3

    Edit serverDZ.cfg

Stop the server and set hostname, passwords, maxPlayers, the first-person option and day cycle values. Double-check the template line for your map.

  4. 4

    Upload mods and keys

Upload the @ mod folders over SFTP, copy their .bikey files into the keys folder and add the mods to the -mod= line in the right order.

  5. 5

    Tune the loot economy

Adjust weapon, food and vehicle balance for your community in types.xml and events.xml. After every change, check the console to confirm a clean startup.

  6. 6

    Get listed and invite players

Start the server, search for it in the DayZ Launcher and test the connection. Then announce the server name and IP:port in your Discord.

Frequently Asked Questions

What server owners ask most before launching DayZ: pricing, RAM, mods, loot tuning, connecting and wipes.

How much does DayZ server hosting cost?
The cheapest way into DayZ server hosting with us is Gold 8GB at ₺440.00 ($11.00) a month, which bundles 8 GB of DDR5 RAM, 4 Ryzen 9 9950X vCores and 70 GB of NVMe SSD. There are 5 DayZ plans with memory from 8 GB to 32 GB, so you can scale from a vanilla server to a large modded community.
Which plan should I choose for DayZ?
Gold 8GB handles 30 to 40 players on Chernarus with vanilla settings or a few light mods. Platinum 10GB suits 60 slots with trader mods, and Diamond 12GB is better for custom community maps. For 60 to 100 players on a big mod pack, we recommend Emerald 16GB with 6 vCores.
Can I install mods on my DayZ server?
Yes. Upload the @ mod folders you downloaded from the Steam Workshop over SFTP, copy each mod's .bikey into the keys folder and add the mods to the -mod= launch line. Server-only mods go in -serverMod=. Remember to list dependencies such as Community Framework first.
How do I change loot amounts and item balance?
Loot lives in db/types.xml inside the mission folder. For each item you set the nominal target count, the min threshold and the lifetime it stays on the ground. Events like vehicles and helicopter crashes are managed in events.xml. Pushing values too high can lower server FPS, so make changes gradually.
When will my server be ready?
Your DayZ server is installed automatically after payment is confirmed and becomes manageable at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net. Once you configure serverDZ.cfg and start the server, players can connect. Uploading large mod packs over SFTP can take extra time depending on their size.
How do players connect to my DayZ server?
Players search for your server by name in the DayZ Launcher server list or the in-game community tab, or connect directly by IP:port. The launcher downloads missing Workshop mods for modded servers. These servers are for the PC version, so console players cannot join.
How do wipes work, and where is persistence stored?
Bases, tents and vehicles are stored in storage_1 inside the mission folder. To wipe, stop the server, back that folder up and then delete it; the server creates a clean world on the next start. Because the old season stays in a backup, you can roll back if needed.
Are backups and DDoS protection included?
Yes, both are free on every plan. Automatic backups protect the mission folder and persistence data on a regular basis, and we recommend a manual backup from the panel before any big mod update. DDoS protection filters the attack traffic that competitive PvP servers often attract before it reaches your server.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes, moving up a tier is possible whenever your DayZ server needs it. That usually happens when you raise the slot count, add a custom map or keep growing the mod list. Backing up the mission folder and storage_1 before switching is a sensible precaution.
