Everything an unmodded Terraria world needs to stay up around the clock, and nothing it does not.
Type the built-in Terraria server commands straight into the panel console: playing lists who is online, save writes the world to disk, and kick, ban, say and motd handle moderation.
Change maxplayers, password, motd, difficulty, autocreate and secure in the file manager, then restart to apply them. There is no wrapper between you and the game's own configuration file.
Upload a world you started in single player or host-and-play. The same .wld file loads on a dedicated server with every chest, NPC house and hellevator exactly where you left it.
Terraria's server does most of its world simulation on one main thread, so the Ryzen 9 9950X's high clock speed pays off during crowded boss fights and invasion waves.
Snapshot the world before anyone kills the Wall of Flesh and hardmode spreads new evil biomes across the map. Automatic backups cover you if a world file is ever damaged.
A server password keeps strangers out of a friends-only world, while free DDoS protection keeps a public IP reachable when someone decides to flood it with junk traffic.
Terraria Vanilla server hosting at TheCrewHost starts at ₺240.00 ($6.00) per month and runs Re-Logic's official dedicated server exactly as shipped, with no mods or plugins in the way. Your world lives on Ryzen 9 9950X hardware in İstanbul, so nobody has to leave a gaming PC running overnight for the others to play. You set world size, difficulty, player cap and password in serverconfig.txt, and you can upload an existing .wld file over SFTP to continue right where your group stopped. It is the simplest way to share a playthrough, from the first night of zombies all the way to Moon Lord.
A Terraria Vanilla server is the game's own dedicated server program running an unmodified multiplayer world. Players connect with the regular Terraria client they already own, so nobody installs a mod loader or matches a mod list. That makes it the lowest-friction choice for a friend group working through bosses together, a family world, or a squad attempting Master Mode for the first time.
One detail surprises new owners: in vanilla Terraria, characters are not stored on the server. Each player keeps a .plr file on their own PC and can walk into your world carrying gear from anywhere else. Among friends that rarely matters. For a public community where progression should be fair, TShock with server-side characters is the better tool, and if you want content mods such as Calamity or Thorium, you need a tModLoader server instead.
Secret seeds work on vanilla worlds too. Generating a world with a seed like "for the worthy" or "not the bees" is an easy way to give a veteran group a fresh challenge without installing anything.
Very little by modern standards: the Bronze 4GB plan comfortably runs a small, medium or large vanilla world for a typical friend group, and even 10 to 16 players at once usually stay well within it.
What actually limits a Terraria server is single-core CPU speed. Every active enemy, projectile and item lying on the ground has to be updated on the main thread each tick. Blood Moons, Frost Moon and Pumpkin Moon waves, and statue-and-timer mob farms are where load spikes come from. If you are opening a public server that regularly sees 20 or more players, Silver 6GB or Gold 8GB gives you headroom for those event nights.
Storage is a non-issue for the world itself, since even a large world file is measured in megabytes. The extra disk on bigger plans is mostly useful for keeping several worlds and a long trail of backups. Diamond and above are more than one vanilla world will ever use, so there is no reason to pay for them unless you have a specific need.
Every vanilla setting lives in serverconfig.txt, one key=value pair per line. The world line points to the world file to load; autocreate decides the size of a new world if none exists (1 small, 2 medium, 3 large). For difficulty, 0 is Classic, 1 Expert, 2 Master and 3 Journey. maxplayers accepts anything from 1 to 255, and password and motd do what their names suggest.
Vanilla Terraria has no permission groups and no whitelist. You gate access with the password and remove troublemakers from the console with kick or ban, which records entries in the ban list file. Setting secure=1 turns on the game's additional cheat protection.
On Journey worlds, the journeypermission_ lines control who may use each power. A value of 0 locks a power for everyone and 2 opens it to everyone, which stops one player from freezing time or cranking enemy spawns for the whole server. When you shut down, remember the difference between exit, which saves the world first, and exit-nosave, which does not.
Lag on a Terraria server almost always comes from the number of things the world is simulating at once. Thousands of dropped items, statue farms left running and trap-filled arenas multiply the work done every tick. Putting farms on timers and cleaning up loose items is the first fix to try.
Large liquid projects are the second culprit. After draining an ocean or flooding a hellevator, water and lava can keep flowing for a long time. The settle command in the console forces liquids to settle in one pass and removes that temporary load.
If enemies appear to teleport or skip across the screen, look at the npcstream value in serverconfig.txt. Lower values reduce skipping but send more data, so only change it when you have confirmed that is the problem.
Most "cannot connect" reports are version mismatches rather than performance issues. When Steam updates the client and the server is still on the old build, players are turned away. Our support team can help you update the server or pin it to a specific version.
Players open Multiplayer, choose Join via IP, pick a character and type in the server's IP address and port, then the password if you set one. Terraria's default port is 7777, but always use the exact IP and port shown in your control panel.
The Join via Steam option in the friends list is meant for host-and-play sessions started from someone's own PC; a dedicated server is reached by IP. Pinning the address in your Discord channel saves you from explaining it to every new player.
Because the hardware sits in İstanbul, players in Türkiye get low latency, and friends across Europe, the Middle East and the Caucasus generally see a smooth connection too. Anyone who hits a version warning simply needs their Terraria client on the same version as the server.
For an unmodded world and up to 16 players, Bronze 4GB is usually all you need. Planning a busy public server? Look at Silver or Gold for event-night headroom.
The server is provisioned automatically. Log in at gamepanel.hostingmerkezi.net to reach the console, file manager, start and stop controls, and backups.
Edit worldname, autocreate, difficulty, maxplayers and password. If you want a secret seed, add the seed line before the world is generated for the first time.
Copy the .wld file from your local Terraria Worlds folder over SFTP, then point the world line in serverconfig.txt at the uploaded file.
Generating a large world can take a few minutes on first launch. Once the console reports that the server is listening, the world is ready for players.
Friends enter the address from your panel on the Join via IP screen. Pin it in Discord so newcomers can connect without asking.
